THE HOUSTON POLICE FOUNDATION STRIVES TO PROMOTE AWARENESS, ENHANCE SAFETY, AND IMPROVE PERFORMANCE WITHIN THE HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT BY ENCOURAGING CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT AND SUPPORT IN MAKING HOUSTON A SAFER CITY FOR ALL.

PROMOTED AWARENESS OF THE HOUSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC, INCLUDING POLICE WEEK, A WEEK DEDICATED TO HONOR POLICE OFFICERS AND INCREASE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE DEPARTMENT. IN 2022 FUNDS WERE RAISED FOR 8 ARMORED TRUCKS FOR THE SWAT TEAM, TOTAL COST $1,246,802 OF WHICH $643,550 WAS PAID IN DEPOSITS WITH FINAL PAYMENTS TO BE MADE IN 2023 UPON DELIVERY. THESE SPECIALIZED VEHICLES CONSTRUCTED WITH BULLET-PROOF PANELS AND WINDSHIELDS WILL PROVIDE THE BEST AVAILABLE POLICE PROTECTION AND GREATER TECHNOLOGY IN DEALING WITH DANGEROUS SITUATIONS THAT OFFICERS FACE TODAY. THE PROGRAM ALSO MADE ADDITIONS TO THE SWAT TEAM EQUIPMENT THAT WILL BE UTILIZED IN HIGH-RISK SWAT SITUATIONS AND SUSPECTED BOMB SITUATIONS COSTING $249,946.


ADOPT A HORSE - TO SUPPORT THE COST OF RAISING 30 TO 35 HORSES TO BE USED IN THE HOUSTON MOUNTED PATROL.
