THE EAST VILLAGE COMMUNITY COALITION (EVCC) WORKS TO RECOGNIZE, SUPPORT AND SUSTAIN THE PHYSICAL AND CULTURAL CHARACTER OF THE EAST VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD THROUGH OUR PRESERVATION, SUSTAINABILITY, EDUCATION AND DIVERSITY INITIATIVES. AN ABUNDANCE OF ECONOMICALLY AND CULTURALLY DIVERSE RESIDENTS AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS, COMMUNITY GARDENS, ARCHITECTURALLY SIGNIFICANT BUILDINGS AND INDEPENDENTLY OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES INHABIT OUR LIVELY, LOW-RISE/HIGH-DENSITY STREETSCAPE, TELLING A UNIQUE STORY OF STRUGGLE, LABOR, COMMUNITY, COUNTERCULTURE, ARTS, AND ACTIVISM. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)BY DEFENDING THE SCALE AND CHARACTER OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD, WE PROTECT IT FROM COMMUNITY DETERIORATION. OUR PROGRAMS ARE DIRECTED AT ACHIEVING REASONABLE POPULATION DENSITY IN RELATION TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND ENSURING THAT COMMUNITY RESOURCES ARE AVAILABLE TO SUSTAIN OUR RESIDENTS AND THOSE WHO WORK AND VISIT. TO IMPLEMENT THESE ACTIVITIES, EVCC HAS A PROVEN HISTORY OF EDUCATING THE PUBLIC REGARDING COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS TO ASSIST WITH HEALTH AND ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY. EVCC COLLABORATES WITH COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS AND POLICY MAKERS TO EDUCATE AND INFORM DECISIONS THAT AFFECT OUR COMMUNITY'S FUTURE AND AVOID COMMUNITY DETERIORATION. THIS IMPORTANT WORK IS ACHIEVED THROUGH OUR DATA COLLECTION, RESEARCH AND OUTREACH EFFORTS.
