IT IS THE MISSION OF JOSHUA HOUSE INC. TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS FACING THE CHALLENGES OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES, MENTAL RETARDATION, AND/OR TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY WITHIN AN ENVIRONMENT AKIN TO A NATURAL HOME SETTING. THIS PROGRAM HAS AS ITS PRIMARY PURPOSE THE PROMOTION OF INDEPENDENCE, INCLUSION, INDIVIDUALITY, AND NORMALCY IN THE LIVES OF THOSE WE SERVE WITH AN EMPHASIS ON OUTCOMES, ABILITIES, AND OVERCOMING PERSONAL CHALLENGES.

RESIDENTAL HABILITATION PROVIDES ASSISTANCE WITH ACQUISITION, RETENTION OR IMPROVEMENTS OF SELF-HELP SKILLS RELATED TO ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING, SUCH AS PERSONAL GROOMING AND CLEANLINESS, BED-MAKING AND HOUSEHOLD CHORES, EATING AND THE PREPARATION OF FOOD, AND THE SOCIAL AND ADAPTIVE SKILLS NECESSARY TO ENABLE THE INDIVIDUALS TO RESIDE IN A NON-INSTITUTIONAL SETTING. THESE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED IN FOUR DIFFERENT RESIDENCES.


DAY HABILITATION PROVIDES ASSISTANCE WITH THE ACQUISITION, RETENTION OR IMPROVEMENTS OF SELF-HELP, SOCIALIZATION, AND ADAPTIVE SKILLS. THESE SERVICES ARE DELIVERED IN A NON-RESIDENTIAL SETTING SEPARATE FROM THE INDIVIDUAL'S HOME/RESIDENCE.


COMMUNITY HABILITATION SERVICES CAN BE DELIVERED AT ANY NON-CERTIFIED LOCATION. SUPPORTS INCLUDE ADAPTIVE SKILL DEVELOPMENT, ASSISTANCE WITH ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING (HANDS-ON), COMMUNITY INCLUSION AND RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, TRAINING AND SUPPORT FOR INDEPENDENCE IN TRAVEL, TRANSPORTAION, ADULT EDUCATIONAL SUPPORTS, DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL SKILLS, LEISURE SKILLS, SELF-ADVOCACY AND INFORMED CHOICE SKILLS, AND APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR DEVELOPMENT TO HELP THE INDIVIDUAL ACCESS THEIR COMMUNITY.
