LIBRARY SERVICES - BROOME COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY CONTINUED TO SUPPORT AND BE A MAJOR PARTNER IN THE OPERATION OF THE BROOME COUNTY LOCAL HISTORY & GENEALOGY CENTER WHICH HAS A COLLECTION OF 142,000 ITEMS, AND THE NORMAL ANNUAL ATTENDANCE OF OVER 20,000 RESEARCHERS. THAT WAS GREATLY REDUCED WHEN THE CENTER CIOSED IN MARCH DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. HOWEVER, CORRESPONDENCE AND ELECTRONIC INQUIRIES CONTINUE.
LOCAL HISTORY- DURING THE 2020 PROGRAM PERIOD, THE BROOME COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY AGAIN PLANNED ON SPONSORING NINE LECTURES AND SPECIAL WORKSHOPS ON A VARIETY OF TOPICS, BUT THEY WERE INTERRUPTED BY THE PANDEMIC. FOUR PROGRAMS WERE CANCELLED, AND THE FALL PROGRAMMING WAS OFFERED VIA ZOOM. ANNUAL ATTENDANCE WAS APPROXIMATELY 830.
COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT - THE BROOME COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY HAS A COLLECTION OF ABOUT 200,000 ITEMS AND ADDED ABOUT 1,000 ITEMS EACH THAT ARE PROCESSED THROUGH THE PAST PERFECT SYSTEM
