THE SPECIAL NEEDS PRESCHOOL PROGRAM IS THE MID-HUDSON'S LARGEST PROVIDER OF SERVICES TO CHILDREN FROM 18 MONTHS TO 5 YEARS, SERVING THOSE DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM AND OTHER DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THE PROGRAM OFFERS THE ONLY CENTER-BASED PROGRAM FOR AUTISTIC PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN IN DUTCHESS COUNTY. THE CENTER FOR COMMUNICATION DISORDERS PROVIDES EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES FOR CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO 3 YEARS OF AGE, IN ADDITION TO EVALUATION AND TREATMENT FOR SPEECH, LANGUAGE, HEARING, AND SWALLOWING.THE ORGANIZATION DECLARED BANKRUPCY ON JANUARY 31, 2014 AND IS IN THE PROCESS OF LIQUDATING.
