AMS PROVIDES THE LEADERSHIP AND RESOURCES TO MAKE MONTESSORI A SIGNIFICANT AND ENDURING VOICE IN EDUCATION. WE SERVE OUR MEMBERS, ADVOCATE AND CHAMPION MONTESSORI PRINCIPLES.
Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
ANNUAL CONFERENCE: THE AMS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY BUILDING TO THE MONTESSORI COMMUNITY. OVER 3,000 TEACHERS, ADMINISTRATORS, AND HEADS OF SCHOOLS ATTENDED THE 2021 VIRTUAL ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN MARCH 2021. THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OFFERED OVER 75 WORKSHOPS COVERING TOPICS SUCH AS CURRENT MONTESSORI RESEARCH, USING MONTESSORI MATERIALS IN TEACHING MATH, PEACE EDUCATION, WORKING WITH INFANTS AND TODDLERS, SCHOOL LEADERSHIP, CULTURAL AWARENESS, AND OTHER TOPICS RELEVANT TO MONTESSORI EDUCATION. CONFERENCE SPEAKERS INCLUDED CHELSEA CLINTON, ERIN BROCKOVICH, WYNTON MARSALIS, AND BEVERLY DANIEL TATUM. THE CONFERENCE ALSO PROVIDED NETWORKING AND SOCIAL EVENTS.
MEMBERSHIP: AMS SERVED OVER 15,000 INDIVIDUAL AND SCHOOL MEMBERS. AMS ENCOURAGED HIGH STANDARDS IN ITS MONTESSORI SCHOOLS, PROVIDED ACCESS TO MEMBER RESOURCES SUCH AS BEST PRACTICES, ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, AN AWARD-WINNING PUBLICATION, AND OFFERED NUMEROUS OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
TEACHER EDUCATION: IN FY 2021, AMS HAD APPROXIMATELY 100 AMS-AFFILIATED TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS. AMS ISSUED OVER 2500 MONTESSORI CREDENTIALS TO SUCCESSFUL GRADUATES OF THESE AMS-AFFILIATED TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS. WE REGISTERED 2400 NEW ADULT LEARNERS IN FY 2021.
