ADVOCATES FOR THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES IN DUTCHESS COUNTY AND EMPOWERS THEM TO LEAD SELF-DIRECTED LIVES WITH INDEPENDENCE AND DIGNITY. TRI SERVICES SUPPORT INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO EXPERIENCE FULL INCLUSION AND PARTICIPATION IN ALL ASPECTS OF COMMUNITY LIFE, WHICH ALLOWS THEM TO HAVE EQUAL ACCESS TO THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES AND FREEDOM AS THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING/LIFE SKILLS - PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT EDUCATE AND ASSIST INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY IN THE COMMUNITY. TEACHING LIFE SKILLS, INCLUDING BUDGETING, SIGN LANGUAGE, MOBILITY/TRAVEL TRAINING, SOCIALIZATION SKILLS, COPING SKILLS, AND PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT MANAGEMENT. HOUSEHOLD MANAGEMENT, INCLUDING EDUCATION AND TRAINING NECESSARY FOR LIVING IN THE COMMUNITY AND PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES ARE ALSO A PART OF INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING/LIFE SKILLS, AS IS TIME SPENT DEVELOPING AN INDEPENDENT LIVING PLAN. PARTICIPANTS MAY BE RECEIVING SERVICES AT THE CENTER, IN THEIR HOMES, SCHOOLS AND PLACES OF EMPLOYMENT. SERVICES WILL BE PROVIDED TO ASSIST THE PARTICIPANT TO TRANSITION TO A LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT. TOTAL CONSUMERS SERVED WERE 1211.
INTERPRETER SERVICE - THE OBJECTIVE IS TO PROVIDE THE COMMUNITY WITH EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WHEN CONVERSING WITH EACH OTHER UTILIZING PROFESSIONAL SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS. THE SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE SUCCESSFUL SIGN LANGUAGE REFERRAL SERVICES, ADVOCACY, COLLABORATIONS, COMMUNITY PRESENTATIONS, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL, AND INTERPRETER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES. THE PROGRAM SERVED 156 INDIVIDUALS FOR INTERPRETING, 18 INDIVIDUALS FOR ADVOCACY AND HANDLED AT LEAST 577 FOR VIDEO PHONE CALLS.
BENEFITS ADVISEMENT/COUNSELING - PROVIDES CONSULTATION OR TRAINING REGARDING LEGAL RIGHTS, ECONOMIC THRESHOLDS, WORK INCENTIVE PROGRAMS AND PROCEDURES. THIS MAY COMPRISE SOME INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING IN UNDERSTANDING SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION AND/OR DUTCHESS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES BENEFITS AS WELL AS APPLYING FOR THESE BENEFITS. THE PROGRAM MAY ALSO INVOLVE SOME CONSUMER ADVOCACY. ADVOCACY SERVICES CAN INCLUDE SPEAKING WITH SERVICE PROVIDERS OR OTHER ENTITIES ON BEHALF OF CONSUMERS. TOTAL CONSUMERS SERVED WERE 167.
