WRF PROGRAMS:IN LEBANON:WRF MAINTAINED AND EXPANDED ITS PROACTIVE LEADERSHIP ROLE AS AN INTERNATIONAL NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION IN LEBANON. WRF HAS BEEN WORKING IN LEBANON SINCE THE 1970S, WITH STRUCTURED PROGRAMING SINCE THE EARLY 1980S, AND A LEGALLY REGISTERED REPRESENTATIVE ENTITY / OFFICE BY GOVERNMENT DECREE. THE FOLLOWING ACCOMPLISHMENT WERE MADE IN LEBANON DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR (2020 - 2021):1. PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION:WRF WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE THE EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT IMPLEMENTATION OF ITS PROJECT TITLED "FILLING ASSISTANCE GAPS IN BASIC REHABILITATION SERVICES FOR REFUGEES FROM SYRIA WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR PEERS IN HOST COMMUNITIES IN LEBANON" (3RD YEAR SEPTEMBER 2019AUGUST 2020; 4TH YEAR SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 29, 2021) IMPLEMENTED WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT AWARDED BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF STATE'S BUREAU OF POPULATION, REFUGEES AND MIGRATION (PRM) AS A GIFT OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT.2. PROJECTS IMPACT:1. PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED DURING THIS FISCAL YEAR (2 PROJECTS: SEPTEMBER 2019 AUGUST 2020; SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 SEPTEMBER 29, 2021) SERVED 5,842 PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES:- 2,902 REFUGEES FROM SYRIA, 2,764 LEBANESE FROM HOST COMMUNITIES, AND 176 FROM OTHER NATIONALITIES.- 2,918 BELOW 18 YEARS OF AGE.- 2,216 WITH VISION IMPAIRMENTS, 2,526 WITH PHYSICAL IMPAIRMENTS OR DISABILITIES, 566 WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS, 110 WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES, 30 WITH AUTISM, AND 394 WITH MULTIPLE DISABILITIES.THE 5,842 SERVED PWDS WERE PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING SERVICES:- 2,251 AMONG PERSONS WITH VISION IMPAIRMENTS AND THOSE WITH MULTIPLE DISABILITIES PROVIDED WITH VISION CORRECTION AIDS, MAINLY EYEGLASSES.- 1,789 PROVIDED WITH REHABILITATION AIDS AND SELF/HOME-CARE SUPPLIES.- 620 PROVIDED WITH PHYSICAL OR OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY.- 573 AMONG PERSONS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENTS AND THOSE WITH MULTIPLE DISABILITIES PROVIDED WITH HEARING AIDS.- 173 PROVIDED WITH PROSTHETIC DEVICES AND 349 WITH ORTHOTIC DEVICES.- 115 PROVIDED WITH SPECIAL REHABILITATION DEVICES, MAINLY ELECTRICAL WHEELCHAIRS, CEREBRAL PALSY CHAIRS AND PATIENT LIFTERS.- 47 PROVIDED WITH BASIC BARRIER-FREE HOME/CAR ADAPTATIONS.IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT SEVERAL PERSONS WERE PROVIDED WITH MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF SERVICE.IN HAITI: SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS THAT RECOGNIZE THE DIGNITY AND POTENTIAL OF ALL YOUNG PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. WRF HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN HELPING THE MUSIC PROGRAM WHICH ORIGINATED AT ECOLE ST. VINCENT, A SCHOOL IN PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES. THE "MUSIC FOR HAITI" PROGRAM'S PURPOSE IS TO COLLECT AND PROVIDE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS TO THE MUSIC STUDENTS AND TO SUPPORT THE SALARIES OF MUSIC TEACHERS. ECOLE ST. VINCENT SERVES OVER 200 CHILDREN WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES. THE PROGRAM IS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN WRF AND DR. JOSIE STEIN, A PROMINENT SCIENTIST AND AMATEUR MUSICIAN WHO RESIDES IN ENGLAND.IN PAKISTAN:PARTNERING WITH INNOVATIVE ORGANIZATIONS TO STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF REHABILITIATION SERVICES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. WRF CONTINUED ITS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PAKISTAN SOCIETY FOR REHABILITATION OF THE DISABLED (PSRD) AND THE AMERICAN FRIENDS OF PSRD. PSRD IS AN ORTHOPEDIC HOSPITAL WITH A HIGH SCHOOL FOR DIFFERENTLY ABLED CHILDREN AND A COLLEGE OF REHABILITATIVE SCIENCES THAT SERVES APPROXIMATELY 2,500 PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN LAHORE AND SURROUNDING AREA.DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, PSRD'S EXPERIENCED A MAJOR LOSS OF REVENUE, AS A RESULT, PSRD WAS FORCED TO REDUCE SALARIES TO ALL THE EMPLOYEES BY 50%. THIS REDUCTION CONTINUED FOR THREE MONTHS. BECAUSE OF THE GENEROSITY OF THE FRIENDS OF PSRD IN AMERICA WHO CARRIED OUT A FACEBOOK CAMPAIGN, AND OTHER DONORS, ENOUGH FUNDS WERE RAISED TO ALLEVIATE THE SUFFERING OF THE EMPLOYEES. CONSEQUENTLY, IN APRIL AND MAY 2020, PSRD WAS ABLE TO PAY 75% SALARIES TO SOME OF THE EMPLOYEES AND BY AUGUST 2020, ALL EMPLOYEES WERE ABLE TO BE RESTORED TO FULL SALARIES.IN GUYANA: TRAINING AND SUPPORTING REHABILITATION PROFESSIONALS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. WRF COLLABORATES WITH PROSTHETIKA TO DEVELOP SHORT-TERM TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR PROSTHETIC AND ORTHOTIC (P&O) TECH- NICIANS, MOST RECENTLY IN GUYANA. WE HAVE DONATED MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES AND PROVIDED STATE-OF-THE-ART TRAINING FROM US AND INTERNATIONAL REHABILITATION EXPERTS. THE CENTER PRODUCES AND FITS ARTIFICIAL LIMBS, AS WELL AS BRACES FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. EACH MONTH, THEY FIT 35 PATIENTS WITH ORTHOTIC AND PROSTHETIC DEVICES.
