A LEAD CONTRIBUTION FROM MELODIOUS ACCORD WAS COMMITTED TO CHORUS AMERICA TO ESTABLISH THE CHORUS AMERICA ALICE PARKER FUND TO SUPPORT THE COMPOSITION AND THOUGHTFUL PRESENTATION OF CHORAL MUSIC BASED IN THE TRADITIONS OF BLACK AND LATINX COMMUNITIES, WHICH HAVE SO DEEPLY INSPIRED ALICE PARKER'S WORK. THIS FUND HAS A PERMANENTLY RESTRICTED CORE OF $50,000 AND WILL BE USED TO GENERATE AN ANNUAL AWARD OF $2,000 RECOGNIZING A BLACK AND/OR LATINX COMPOSER OR AN ENSEMBLE THAT RESPECTFULLY AND AUTHENTICALLY PRESENTS WORKS INCORPORATING THESE TRADITIONS. PRODUCTION OF A DOCUMENTARY, "ALICE: AT HOME WITH ALICE PARKER," WHICH ILLUMINATES PARKER'S LIFE AND ART THROUGH A SERIES OF INTIMATE CONVERSATIONS WITH FILMMAKER EDUARDO MONTES-BRADLEY OF HERITAGE FILM PROJECT. THIS DOCUMENTARY PRESENTS THE LIFE AND WORK OF THE ICONIC COMPOSER, CONDUCTOR, AND TEACHER ALICE PARKER, WHO IS A CHAMPION OF THE POWER OF THE HUMAN VOICE AND A HERO IN THE WORLD OF CHORAL MUSIC. THIS DOCUMENTARY PREMIERED IN 2020. ADDITIONALLY, $5,000 WAS SPENT FOR THE PROMOTION OF THE DOCUMENTARY, "ALICE: AT HOME WITH ALICE PARKER," WHICH WAS RELEASED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CHORUS AMERICA ALICE PARKER FUND.
APPROXIMATELY 50-1,000 BENEFIT FROM WORKING WITH MASTER COMPOSER, TEACHER AND CONDUCTOR, ALICE PARKER. MS. PARKER GIVES LECTURES; LEADS COMMUNITY SINGS; GIVES PRESENTATIONS AT PROFESSIONAL CONFERENCES; INSTRUCTS FELLOWS IN SCORE STUDIES, MELODY STUDIES AND COMPOSITION; AND HOLDS WORKSHOPS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.
THE LEGACY PROJECT PROGRAM WAS FUNDED IN JUNE 2021 TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AS REQUIRED BY ALICE PARKER TO ASSIST WITH THE GOAL OF CONTINUING TO DOCUMENT HER LEGACY THROUGH INTERVIEWS, CORRESPONDENCE AND MEETINGS.
