WIN OPERATES 14 TRANSITIONAL HOUSING RESIDENCES WITH OVER 1,734 INDIVIDUAL FAMILY UNITS IN MANHATTAN, BROOKLYN, BRONX AND QUEENS. WIN SHELTERS PROVIDE VOCATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL, JOB TRAINING, AND PERMANENT HOUSING ASSISTANCE. WIN HOUSING ADDRESSES PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, SUCH AS SUBSTANCE ABUSE, LEGAL ISSUES, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ENTITLEMENT BENEFITS AND SOCIALIZATION NEEDS.
IN FY 21, WIN OPERATED 485 SUPPORTIVE HOUSING UNITS WITH THE CAPACITY TO SERVE MORE THAN 1,034 WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN, INCLUDING YOUNG MOTHERS WHO HAVE AGED OUT OF THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM, FAMILIES WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HISTORIES OR IN RECOVERY FROM ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROBLEMS, AND FAMILIES WITH MULTIPLE EPISODES OF HOMELESSNESS. MANY LACK BASIC LIVING SKILLS, HAVE NEVER HAD A HOME, AND HAVE EXPERIENCED EARLY CHILDHOOD SEXUAL AND/OR PHYSICAL ABUSE.
