ADSNY'S TELLING THE ART DECO STORIES OF OUR NEIGHBORHOODS (TADS) PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH LOCAL COMMUNITY CENTERS TO OFFER FREE ILLUSTRATED TALKS AND WALKING TOUR FOR RESIDENTS IN UNDERSERVED NEW YORK CITY NEIGHBORHOODS. THE PRIMARY GOALS OF TADS EVENTS ARE TO SEEK TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THIS UNDERAPPRECIATED ARCHITECTURAL LEGACY BY PROVIDING A UNIQUE COLLECTION OF FREE ILLUSTRATED LECTURES AND CULTURAL WALKING TOURS TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES. THEY ARE DESIGNED TO HELP EDUCATE THE LOCAL POPULATION IN UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS, INVITING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR HERITAGE, CONTRIBUTE TO THE BROADER CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF THE CITY'S URBAN FABRIC, PROMOTE GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL VALUE OF THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND ENCOURAGE PRESERVATION OF CULTURE, ART AND ARCHITECTURE. ADSNY'S DOCUMENTING DECO EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM BRINGS TEACHING ARTISTS INTO 10 NEW YORK CITY PUBLIC K-12 SCHOOLS TO OFFER ART ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS TO STUDENTS THROUGH A SERIES OF LESSONS AND NEIGHBORHOOD WALKS. STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT THE RICH HISTORY OF THEIR UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS AND UNDERSTAND THE ART DECO SPECIAL DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURAL VALUE OF THEIR COMMUNITIES AND BETTER APPRECIATE HOW THEIR COMMUNITIES CONTRIBUTE TO THE URBAN FABRIC OF THE CITY. STUDENTS WORK WITH ADSNY'S TEACHING ARTIST TO USE ART DECO DESIGN ELEMENTS TO INSPIRE THEIR OWN ARCHITCURAL DRAWINGS AND ART MAKING.


ADSNY'S DESTINATION DECO TRAVEL PROGRAMS OFFER INDEPTH EXPLORATIONS OF THE GLOBAL REACH AND ADAPTATIONS OF ART DECO ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN IN OTHER IMPORTANT ART DECO CITIES. IT OFFERS PARTICIPANTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT AND MEET WITH ARCHITECTURAL, PRESERVATION AND DESIGN SPECIALISTS IN THESE OTHER CITIES RICH IN ART DECO DESIGN. THESE MULTI-DAY IMMERSIVE EXPLORATIONS INCLUDE MEETINGS WITH PRESERVATIONISTS, ARCHITECTURAL-LED WALKING AND BUS TOURS, CURATOR-LED MUSEUM EXHIBITIONS, VISITS TO ART DECO BUILDINGS THAT HAVE BEEN RESTORED TO MEET AND LEARN FROM THOSE ARCHITECTURAL PROFESSIONS OVERSEEING THE RESTORATION, VISITS TO PRIVATE COLLECTIONS AND MORE. IN 2023 ADSNY'S DESTINATION DECO TOURS INCLUDED A SERIES OF TOURS AND TALKS WITH LEADERS OF ART DECO SOCIETIES IN LOS ANGELES AND LONG BEACH CITIES AND AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PARTICIPANTS TO STAY ABOARD THE NEWLY RESORTED ICONIC ART DECO OCEAN LINER, THE QUEEN MARY. THESE CULTURAL EXCHANGES WITH OTHER SOCIETIES ALLOWS FOR AN EXCHANGE OF IDEAS AND SHARING OF BEST PRACTICES TO PRESERVE AND CELEBRATE ART DECO DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE AS THIS IMPORTANT STYLE APPROACHES ITS 100TH ANNIVERSARY IN NEW YORK CITIES AND OTHER MAJOR CITIES AROUND THE WORLD. REVENUE RAISED FROM THESE DESTINATION DECO TRAVEL PROGRAMS SUPPORT OTHER ADSNY INITIATIVES.

IN 2023 ADSNY OFFERED 29 PROGRAMS INCLUDING WALKING TOURS, MUSEUM AND SPECIAL EXHIBITION EVENTS AND ONLINE EVENTS, IN ADDITION TO ACCESS TO OVER 85 RECORDED ON-LINE EVENTS. REGISTRATION REVENUES RAISED FROM THESE PROGRAMS SUPPORT OTHER ADSNY INITIATIVES.


ADSNY'S AUTUMN IN NEW YORK EXPLORATIONS OF NEW YORK ART DECO IS A CUSTOM DESIGNED PROGRAM TO PROVIDE ATTENDEES WITH IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES INTO THE UNIQUE STYLE, DESIGN, CULTURE, MUSIC, DIVERSITY, AND THE ARTS OF THE 1920S AND 30S IN NEW YORK CITY. THESE WEEKENDS ARE FOUR DAYS OF INFORMATIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING PRESENTED BY LOCAL ARCHITECTURAL, DESIGN, AND PRESERVATION EXPERTS THAT GUIDE ATTENDEES THROUGH THE IMPORTANT INTERWAR HERITAGE, ARCHITECTURE, AND HISTORY OF THE CITY.
