ADSNY'S TELLING THE ART DECO STORIES OF OUR NEIGHBORHOODS (TADS) PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH LOCAL COMMUNITY CENTERS TO OFFER FREE ILLUSTRATED TALKS AND WALKING TOUR FOR RESIDENTS IN UNDERSERVED NEW YORK CITY NEIGHBORHOODS. THE PRIMARY GOALS OF TADS EVENTS ARE TO SEEK TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THIS UNDERAPPRECIATED ARCHITECTURAL LEGACY BY PROVIDING A UNIQUE COLLECTION OF FREE ILLUSTRATED LECTURES AND CULTURAL WALKING TOURS TO LOCAL COMMUNITIES. THEY ARE DESIGNED TO HELP EDUCATE THE LOCAL POPULATION IN UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS, INVITING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR HERITAGE, CONTRIBUTE TO THE BROADER CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF THE CITY'S URBAN FABRIC, PROMOTE GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THE ARCHITECTURAL VALUE OF THEIR COMMUNITIES, AND ENCOURAGE PRESERVATION OF CULTURE, ART AND ARCHITECTURE. IT OFFERS PARTICIPANTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT AND MEET WITH ARCHITECTURAL, PRESERVATION AND DESIGN SPECIALISTS IN THESE OTHER CITIES RICH IN ART DECO DESIGN.
