SEE SCHEDULE O DEDICATED TO THE RECOVERY OF ORGANS AND TISSUES FOR PEOPLE IN NEED OF LIFE-SAVING AND LIFE-IMPROVING TRANSPLANTS. LIVEONNY IS COMMITTED TO INCREASING AWARENESS AND FOSTERING UNDERSTANDING OF ORGAN AND TISSUE DONATION AMONG HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

DONOR SERVICES - THE ORGANIZATION COORDINATES THE RECOVERY OF ORGANS AND TISSUE FOR TRANSPLANT, WHICH IS A COMPLEX PROCESS AND INVOLVES MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AT MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS. ORGANS SUCH AS KIDNEYS, HEART, LIVER, PANCREAS, INTESTINES, AND LUNGS, HAVE THE POTENTIAL OF BEING RECOVERED FOR LIVEONNY BY A TRANSPLANT SURGEON. THESE ORGANS, ONCE RECOVERED, ARE TRANSPORTED AND TRANSPLANTED INTO THE RECIPIENT PATIENT(S). SKIN, BONES, AND CARDIOVASCULAR TISSUE ARE ALSO RECOVERED FOR LIVEONNY AND ARE PACKAGED ACCORDING TO THE FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION GUIDELINES.COORDINATORS RECEIVE THE INITIAL COMMUNICATION OF A POTENTIAL CASE AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOCAL ORGAN ALLOCATION, LOGISTICAL PLANNING, KIDNEY IMPORT OFFERS, TRIAGE OF REFERRALS, AND LOGISTICS FOR TISSUE DONATION. DONOR REFERRAL AND RECOVERY SERVICES TEAM MEMBERS COORDINATE ALL ASPECTS OF THE PROCESS IN COLLABORATION WITH THE RECOVERY TEAMS AND THE QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT.FAMILY SERVICES STAFF ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING A WIDE RANGE OF SUPPORT FOR POTENTIAL ORGAN AND TISSUE DONOR FAMILIES. THEY ESTABLISH INITIAL CONTACT WITH THE POTENTIAL DONOR FAMILY AND PROVIDE TRAUMA, GRIEF AND BEREAVEMENT SERVICES FOR THE FAMILY OR IDENTIFY HOSPITAL RESOURCES TO PROVIDE THESE SERVICES. INFORMATION IS ARTICULATED IN AN EASILY UNDERSTOOD AND ACCURATE MANNER TO FAMILIES WHOSE ABILITY TO PROCESS INFORMATION IS IMPAIRED BY EMOTIONALLY TRAUMATIC CIRCUMSTANCES. THE COORDINATORS OFFER SUPPORT TO POTENTIAL DONOR FAMILIES FOR AS LONG AS NECESSARY. THEY PROVIDE TWO YEARS OF AFTERCARE SUPPORT AND HANDLE ALL COMMUNICATION THAT MAY OCCUR BETWEEN THE DONOR FAMILIES AND THE RECIPIENT.
COMMUNITY AND GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS - THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES PUBLIC EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO CREATE AWARENESS ABOUT ORGAN AND TISSUE DONATION FOR TRANSPLANTATION, AND PROMOTES THE NEW YORK STATE DONATE LIFE ORGAN, EYE AND TISSUE DONOR REGISTRY THROUGH VARIOUS VENUES AND PROGRAMS, INCLUDING PUBLIC RELATIONS, MEDIA, VOLUNTEERS, WORKPLACE PARTNERSHIPS, UNIVERSITIES, HOSPITALS, AND COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PRINTS AND DISTRIBUTES PROMOTIONAL ITEMS, INCLUDING THE NEW YORK STATE DONATE LIFE REGISTRY BROCHURES IN SIX LANGUAGES FOR THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA. FURTHERMORE, THE ORGANIZATION COORDINATES AND OVERSEES A REGIONAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM THAT REACHES OUT TO APPROXIMATELY 13 MILLION INDIVIDUALS IN NEW YORK.
EDUCATION AND HOSPITAL SERVICES - THE ORGANIZATION WORKS WITH THE STAFF AT THE HOSPITALS TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY INFORMATION AND SUPPORT NEEDED TO FACILITATE ACCURATE AND TIMELY REFERRAL AND MANAGEMENT OF ALL POTENTIAL ORGAN AND TISSUE DONORS. IN ADDITION, THEY WORK COLLABORATIVELY WITH THE HOSPITALS TO IDENTIFY AND IMPLEMENT SOLUTIONS FOR BEST PRACTICES IN THE INDUSTRY.
