INTERNATIONAL DESIGN CONFERENCE - THE SOCIETY SERVES APPROXIMATELY 2,100 MEMBERS CONSISTING OF PRACTITIONERS, EDUCATORS, STUDENTS AND OTHERS WITH INTEREST IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. EACH YEAR, THE SOCIETY CONDUCTS AN ANNUAL CONFERENCE TO BRING TOGETHER MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS TO PROMOTE AND STIMULATE INTEREST IN AND DEMAND FOR THE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES OF THE PROFESSION AND TO EDUCATE INDIVIDUALS REGARDING NEW PRODUCTS AND SERVICES IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN. IN 2021 THE SOCIETY HELD ITS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN A 24 HOUR VIRTUAL FORMAT DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
AWARDS & COMPETITIONS - THE SOCIETY CONDUCTS AN ANNUAL COMPETITION TO SELECT THE BEST-DESIGNED AND MOST INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS OF THE YEAR, AS WELL AS MOST VALUABLE DESIGN STRATEGIES. THERE IS AN ENTRY FEE, BUT CASH PRIZES ARE NOT AWARDED. THE PURPOSE OF THE CONTEST RESULTS ARE TO INFORM AND EDUCATE THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE THAT INDUSTRIAL DESIGN PLAYS IN EVERYDAY LIFE. THE RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION ARE PUBLICIZED ON THE SOCIETY'S WEB SITE AND IN OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS. THE SOCIETY ALSO PRESENTS SEVERAL AWARDS TO DISTINGUISHED MEMBERS OF IDSA AND/OR INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE MADE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE INDUSTRIAL DESIGN PROFESSION.
DEEP DIVES - EACH YEAR THE SOCIETY HOLDS 2-4 DEEP DIVE EVENTS FOR PROFESSIONALS IN THE DESIGN COMMUNITY TO DELVE DEEPER INTO ISSUES FACING THE INDUSTRIAL DESIGN INDUSTRY. IN 2021 THE SOCIETY HELD 3 VIRTUAL DEEP DIVE EVENTS.
