NMPA PROMOTES, PROTECTS AND ADVANCES THE INTERESTS OF MUSIC PUBLISHERS AND SONGWRITERS IN MATTERS RELATING TO DOMESTIC AND GLOBAL PROTECTION OF COPYRIGHTS.

LEGAL: NMPA IS ACTIVE IN PROTECTING THE COPYRIGHTS AND ADVANCING THE POLICY INTERESTS OF ITS MUSIC PUBLISHER MEMBERS. AS PART OF THIS ACTIVITY, NMPA ENGAGES IN LITIGATION IN FEDERAL AND STATE CASES TO SUPPORT THE LEGAL GOALS OF ITS MEMBERS. IT ALSO ENGAGES IN THE NEGOTIATION OF SETTLEMENTS AND, IN CERTAIN CASES, MAKES AVAILABLE MODEL INDUSTRY LICENSES TO ITS MEMBERS. NMPA RUNS AN IN-HOUSE PROGRAM TO COMBAT PIRACY IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. IT IS THE PRIMARY INTERESTED PARTY INVOLVED ON BEHALF OF MUSICAL WORK COPYRIGHT OWNERS IN STATUTORY RATE SETTING PROCEEDINGS UNDER SECTION 115 OF THE COPYRIGHT ACT.
COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS: THE COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS TEAM OVERSEES ALL INTERACTION WITH THE PRESS INCLUDING PROMOTING NMPA OBJECTIVES AND RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT THE ISSUES FACED BY THE MUSIC PUBLISHING AND SONGWRITING COMMUNITY. IT ALSO ENCOMPASSES EVENTS WHICH NMPA PRESENTS FOR MEMBERS AND THE BROADER INDUSTRY. COMMUNICATIONS, PR, AND EVENTS ARE USED TO EDUCATE MEMBERS, CONSUMERS, LAWMAKERS, AND MUSIC CREATORS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF PROTECTING COPYRIGHTS AND NMPA'S ROLE IN DOING SO.
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS: NMPA FREQUENTLY ENGAGES WITH THE COPYRIGHT OFFICE, DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, AND OTHER CONGRESSIONAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES IN SUPPORT OF THE INTERESTS OF PUBLISHERS AND SONGWRITERS.
