ACTORS' EQUITY ASSOCIATION NEGOTIATES AND ENFORCES COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS AND INDEPENDENT PRODUCER AGREEMENTS WITH PRODUCERS AND THEATRES THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. ACTORS' EQUITY SETS THE STANDARD FOR WAGES AND WORKING CONDITIONS AND PROVIDES BENEFITS, INCLUDING PENSIONS, HEALTH INSURANCE AND A 401(K) PLAN AND HOLDS SECURITY DEPOSITS FROM EMPLOYERS TO GUARANTEE PAYMENT OF WAGES AND PREMIUM PAYMENTS.
ACTORS' EQUITY PROVIDES FUNDING AND OTHER RESOURCES TO RELATED ORGANIZATIONS THAT BENEFIT MEMBERS AND THE THEATRE COMMUNITY AT LARGE. FOR EXAMPLE, EQUITY SUPPORTS THE ACTORS' FUND AND THE ACTORS' WORK PROGRAM, CAREER TRANSITION FOR DANCERS, AND THE WAGNER LABOR ARCHIVESAND ALLIANCE FOR INCLUSION IN THE ARTS.
