IN ADDITION TO ARTIST SERVICES, WILLIAMSBURG ART NEXUS, INC. ("WAX") PRODUCES TWO PERFORMANCE PROGRAMS GEARED TOWARD CAREER AND CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT OF EMERGING ARTISTS - WAXWORKS AND SUGAR SALON. WAXWORKS IS AN INCLUSIVE PERFORMANCE SHOWCASE THAT OFFERS NEW AND EXPERIENCED ARTISTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT THEIR WORK ON A PROFESSIONAL STAGE AND RECEIVE CRITICAL FEEDBACK ON WORKS IN PROGRESS FROM A LIVE AUDIENCE. ADDITIONALLY, PARTICIPATING ARTISTS RECEIVE PROFESSIONAL REVIEW AND FEEDBACK ON PRESS MATERIALS FROM THE WAX STAFF. SUGAR SALON IS A PROGRAM CREATED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE DANCE DEPARTMENT AT BARNARD COLLEGE WHICH ADDRESSES GENDER IMBALANCES IN THE MODERN DANCE COMMUNITY BY CREATING CAREER BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN: COMMISSIONING THE WORK OF EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED FEMALE CHOREOGRAPHERS IN A CONTEXT THAT ENCOURAGES MENTORSHIP, RESOURCE SHARING, ENHANCED SELF-PROMOTION, AND LONG-TERM PLANNING.
