DANCEWAVE PROVIDES ACCESS TO SUPPORTIVE AND EMPOWERING DANCE EXPERIENCES THAT CENTER SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL AND COGNITIVE GROWTH THROUGH MOVEMENT. DEVELOPING PROGRAMS TO MEET COMMUNITY NEEDS, WE USE DANCE AS A VEHICLE FOR TRANSFORMATION, EXPRESSION, ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP AND SELF REFLECTION. DANCEWAVE FOSTERS A CULTURE WHERE DANCE IS CELEBRATED AS A HEALING AND INCLUSIVE ART FORM.SOME NOTABLE CELEBRATIONS FROM THE PAST YEAR ARE AS FOLLOWS:OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM GREW BY 37%, ENGAGING 4500 NEW YORKERS AT 85 NYC SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS THROUGHOUT ALL FIVE BOROUGHS. THE DANCEWAVE COMPANY CURRICULUM FEATURES A WEEKLY INTERGENERATIONAL COMMUNITY WORKSHOP, WHERE DANCERS WORK CLOSELY WITH A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST TO DEVELOP A YOUTH-LED CHOREOGRAPHIC PROCESS; HONING SKILLS RELATED TO COLLABORATION, SELF EXPRESSION, AND SOCIALLY ENGAGED DANCE MAKING. YOUTH DANCERS PERFORMED TWO ORIGINAL WORKS CREATED DURING THIS PROCESS IN 2023. WE HAVE PRIORITIZED FLEXIBLE AND TUITION FREE ACCESS FOR ALL YOUTH PROGRAMMING AT THE DANCEWAVE CENTER. THANKS TO THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF OUR COMMUNITY, WE WERE ABLE TO OFFER $59,000 IN TUITION ASSISTANCE AND ENSURE THAT STUDENTS WERE NOT DENIED ACCESS TO QUALITY DANCE EXPERIENCES DUE TO FINANCIAL BARRIERS.OUR CLASS SHARE PROGRAM SUPPORTED 30% MORE LOCAL ARTIST EDUCATORS WITH OVER 260 HOURS OF STUDIO SPACE FOR THEIR CLASSES. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM DANCEWAVE PROVIDES ARTISTS ACCESS TO THE CAPITAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES NECESSARY TO DEVELOP AND SUSTAIN THEIR PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICES AS RELIABLE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.OUR ANNUAL DANCEWAVE THROUGH COLLEGE & BEYOND PROGRAM WAS A SUCCESS, PROVIDING OVER 300 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND FAMILIES WITH ESSENTIAL COLLEGE AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT. THIS PROGRAM FACILITATES SUCCESSFUL TRANSITIONS TO HIGHER EDUCATION AND CAREERS IN THE ARTS THROUGH NETWORKING EVENTS, WORKSHOPS AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS, COLLEGE FAIRS AND COLLEGE AUDITIONS.
