CITIZEN ACTION OF NEW YORK ORGANIZED IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS NEW YORK STATE TO PURSUE SOCIAL, RACIAL, ECONOMIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE. CITIZEN ACTION WAS A LEADER IN THE CAMPAIGNS TO MAINTAIN REFORMS TO THE BAIL SYSTEM AND COMBAT RACISM IN THE JUSTICE SYSTEM, INCREASE PUBLIC EDUCATION FUNDING, PROVIDE UNIVERSAL CHILD CARE, ENCOURAGE RENEWABLE ENERGY, IMPLEMENT A SYSTEM OF PUBLICLY FUNDED ELECTIONS. CITIZEN ACTION TRAINED COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN LEADERSHIP SKILLS, DEVELOPED POLITICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AND WORKED WITH VOLUNTEERS IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS NEW YORK TO ENGAGE THEIR NEIGHBORS ON ISSUES THAT IMPACT THEIR LIVES.
