PEOPLE'S ACTION IS FOCUSED ON ADVANCING AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE AND PRESCRIPTION DRUGS, TAX FAIRNESS AND FAIR IMMIGRATION REFORM, AS WELL AS PROTECTING SAFETY NET PROGRAMS.

SEE SCHEDULE OADVOCACY - THE ORGANIZATION CONDUCTS ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING ACTIVITIES TO SUPPORT AND ADVANCE NATIONAL AGENDA FOR LOW- AND MODERATE-INCOME PEOPLE. OUR AGENDA IS BASED AROUND A RANGE OF ISSUES AFFECTING WORKING PEOPLE AND THEIR COMMUNITIES THAT INCLUDE HEALTH CARE, CLEAN ENERGY, HOUSING, IMMIGRATION, ACCESS AND AFFORDABILITY TO HIGHER EDUCATION, AND THE OVERDOSE CRISIS AND ISSUES RELATING TO CRIMINALIZATION OF THESE COMMUNITIES. POLITICAL - THE ORGANIZATION ENGAGES IN THE ELECTORAL PROCESS BY SUPPORTING CANDIDATES ALIGNED WITH OUR ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION, OUR ISSUE-BASED AGENDA AND VISION FOR THE COUNTRY. WE GENERATE ENERGY AROUND THE ELECTION CYCLE USING OUR ISSUES AND MOVE PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS THROUGH MASS VOLUNTEERISM. WE SUPPORT STATE AND LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY THAT ARE WORKING TOWARDS BUILDING INDEPENDENT POLITICAL POWER AND FUNCTIONAL MODELS FOR CO-GOVERNANCE. ACHIEVEMENTS 2021FEDERAL ADVOCACY AGENDA: IN 2021, PEOPLE'S ACTION DID WORK TO INFORM THE NEW BIDEN ADMINISTRATION OF OUR ORGANIZATIONAL PRIORITIES, TO SUPPORT OR PUSHBACK ON CONFIRMATION OF PARTICULAR DEPARTMENT SECRETARIES, AND TO ELEVATE ON AN ARRAY OF EXECUTIVE ACTION PRIORITIES LINKED TO OUR CORE ISSUES AREAS. WE ALSO WORKED TO ADVANCE A FEDERAL ADVOCACY AGENDA THAT PRIORITIZED COVID RELIEF, EXPANDING PUBLIC HEALTH CARE COVERAGE AND VACCINE ACCESS, LOWERING DRUG PRICES, PREVENTING EVICTION, ADDRESSING THE OVERDOSE CRISIS, PROTECTING THE RIGHT TO ORGANIZE, VOTING RIGHTS PRESERVATION, IMMIGRATION REFORM, AND MAKING POLLUTERS PAY, INCREASING RENEWABLE ENERGY AND GREEN JOBS. WE INFLUENCED THE CONTENT OF FEDERAL BILLS THAT PUSHED THE LANDSCAPE, AND INTRODUCED THEM WITH OUR CONGRESSIONAL ALLIES: INCLUDING MEDICARE FOR ALL, KEEPING RENTERS SAFE ACT, THE GREEN NEW DEAL FOR CITIES ACT AND THRIVE ACT. WE WORKED TO INFORM AND INFLUENCE THE BUDGET RECONCILIATION PROPOSALS THAT WERE EMERGING OUT OF THE HOUSE & SENATE IN THE FORMAT OF THE BUILD BACK BETTER BILL. WE RELEASED REPORTS AND DID ACTIONS ON THE ROLE OF CORPORATIONS IN INFLUENCING FEDERAL LEGISLATORS AND LEGISLATION. WE CO-LED EFFORTS TO PASS HISTORIC LEGISLATION INCLUDING THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT, WHICH INVESTS $1.9 TRILLION IN PUBLIC HEALTH AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. ELECTORAL PROGRAM: WE FOCUSED ON LOCAL ELECTIONS, SUPPORTING OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS IN MINNEAPOLIS, BUFFALO AND NEW YORK CITY. ALTHOUGH THE PUBLIC SAFETY AMENDMENT IN MINNEAPOLIS DID NOT WIN, WE MOVED PEOPLE ON THE PHONES THROUGH OUR DEEP CANVASS PROGRAM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OUR MEMBER ORGANIZATION AND THEIR LOCAL ALLIES, AND 44% OF MINNEAPOLIS VOTERS VOTED TO DO AWAY WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IN FAVOR OF A PUBLIC SAFETY DEPARTMENT.
