AFTER EXTENSIVE RESTORATION THE USS ORLECK WAS RELOCATED TO JACKSONVILLE, FL TO BECOME THE CORNERSTONE OF THE JACKSONVILLE NAVAL MUSEUM. THE NAVAL SHIP MUSEUM WAS OPENED TO THE PUBLIC IN 2022 AND QUICKLY BECAME ONE OF THE CITY'S MOST VISITED ATTRACTIONS. THE MUSEUM PRIORITIES INCLUDE EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC, A STEAM PROGRAM AND SCHOOL TOURS FOR STUDENTS OF ALL AGES, AND PRESERVATION OF NAVAL HISTORY. THE MUSEUM HOSTS COMMUNITY, BUSINESS, AND CIVIC EVENTS INCLUDING TRAINING FOR THE NAVY, AND THE JACKSONVILLE SHERIFFS OFFICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT.
