THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES LIVING IN THE TOWN OF GREENWICH WHILE EMBRACING JEWISH WISDOM, TRADITION AND COMPASSION.

SUPERMARKETING FOR SENIORS: A FREE NONDISCRIMINATORY GROCERY SHOPPING AND CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM ESTABLISHED IN 1986 IN RESPONSE TO THE NEEDS OF A GROWING NUMBER OF FRAIL AND ELDERLY GREENWICH RESIDENTS WHO WANTED TO CONTINUE LIVING IN THEIR OWN HOMES BUT COULD NO LONGER DO SO WITHOUT ACCESS TO GROCERIES. 98% OF OUR 220 CLIENTS ARE DESCRIBED AS LOW OR VERY LOW INCOME BY THE CONNECTICUT DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT GUIDELINES AND MANY LIVE IN SUBSIDIZED HOUSING.
COUNSELING: GENERAL COUNSELING OF GROUPS, FAMILES AND INDIVIDUALS WITH VARIOUS PROBLEMS JFS'S LICENSED CLINICAL THERAPISTS PROVIDE HIGH QUALITY, CONFIDENTIAL COUNSELING FOR INDIVIDUALS, GROUPS, FAMILIES, AND COUPLES IN A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT. DAY AND EVENING APPOINTMENTS; INSURANCE AND MEDICARE REIMBURSABLE; SLIDING SCALE FEES.
HEALING: SUPPORT GROUPS, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR YOUTH, AND FRIENDLY VISITS.
OLDER ADULTS: SERVICES INCLUDE CHORE AND SNOW ANGEL PROGRAMS, HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR SERVICES, DISCUSSION GROUPS, LUNCHEONS, FRIENDLY VISITING, AND ELDERCARE MANAGEMENT. CONSULTATION AND REFERRAL. FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION: SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT EXAMINE JEWISH IDENTITY AND DEEPEN THE BONDS FO FAMILY LIFE. REFUGEE: ACCULTURATION SERVICES INCLUDING CASE MANAGEMENT, LANGUAGE TRAINING, COUNSELING, VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE, ADVOCACY AND IMMIGRATION CONSULTING SERVICES. SCHOLARSHIP AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: PROVIDE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO THOSE IN NEED, SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INCOME ELIGIBLE YOUTH, AND HOLIDAY BASKETS TO JEWISH SENIORS AND FAMILIES.
