NEWTOWN VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION PROVIDES VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE SERVICES TO THE TOWN OF NEWTOWN, CT.

Part 3 - Line 4a
MEDICAL SERVICES - VOLUNTEERS PROVIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TO THE TOWN OF NEWTOWN, CT, INCLUDING EMERGENCY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND TRANSPORTATION. THERE IS AN ON-CALL PARAMEDIC TO ASSIST THE VOLUNTEERS. IN ADDTION, EMT AND CPR CLASSES ARE PROVIDED TO TRAIN FUTURE VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE PERSONNEL. VOLUNTEERS RESPONDED TO OVER 2,900 CALLS AND A TOTAL OF 1,031 PATIENTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO LOCAL HOSPITALS.
NON TRANSPORT SERVICES - APPROXIMATELY 286 PATIENTS WERE SEEN BY THE AMBULANCE CORPS BUT WERE NOT TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. THIS INCLUDES PATIENTS WITH NO MEDICAL ISSUES, PATIENTS WHO HAD FALLEN AND NEEDED ASSISTANCE, AND PATIENTS WHO REFUSED TREATMENT AGAINST MEDICAL ADVICE. NO PAYMENT WAS REQUESTED OR RECEIVED FOR THIS SERVICE.
STANDY - AMBULANCE VOLUNTEERS WERE CALLED TO STANDBY AT 8 FIRE SCENES IN SUPPORT OF OUR FIVE LOCAL FIRE COMPANIES. AFTER EACH PERIOD OF SERVICE, THE FIRE FIGHTERS WERE EVALUATED BY AMBULANCE PERSONNEL PRIOR TO THE FIRE FIGHTERS REENTERING THE FIRE SCENE. THERE WERE NO CHARGES FOR THIS SERVICE.
