LOCAL SUPPORT PROGRAMS: THE CENTER HOLDS WEEKLY CLASSES, GROUP PRACTICES AND OTHER EVENTS TO PROMOTE THE STUDY AND PRACTICE OF THE TIBETAN BUDDHIST TRADITION. THE CENTER OFFERS REGULAR CLASSES OF PHILOSOPHICAL TOPICS, GROUP PRACTICES AND CELEBRATIONS, VISITING TEACHERS SPEAKING ON A VARIETY OF RELATED TOPICS, A SMALL BOOKSTORE AND YOGA CLASSES. THE CENTER ALSO HOUSES A RESIDENT GESHE (TEACHER). IN FOLLOWING THE BUDDHIST TRADITION, THE GESHE HAS TAKEN A VOW OF POVERTY AND IS SUPPORTED BY THE CENTER.
BUILDING PROJECT:THIS PROGRAM SUPPORTS THE IMPROVEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS WHICH ARE THE SITE OF ALL LOCAL PROGRAMS AND MEETINGS HELD IN FURTHERANCE OF THE CENTER'S MISSION. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES CULTURAL PRESERVATION PROJECTS SUCH AS THE CONSTRUCTION OF A STUPA (SACRED MONUMENT) ON THE GROUNDS. THE BUILDING, WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN 2001, IS ALSO USED TO HOUSE THE RESIDENT TEACHERS, RESIDENT TRANSLATOR AND VISITING TEACHERS.
