WEST WINDSOR ARTS COUNCIL (WWA) DRAWS AUDIENCES OF UP TO 100 FROM THE GREATER MERCER COUNTY AREA PER EVENT FOR ITS EXHIBITIONS FOCUSING ON RELEVANT, THEMATIC TOPICS SUCH AS ART & HEALING, FREE COMMUNITY EVENTS AND LIVE PERFORMANCES. WEST WINDSOR ARTS HAS OVER 370 MEMBERS, OVER 30 ARTIST INSTRUCTORS, AND OVER 400 EXHIBITING ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS. FILM ,MUSIC, AND DANCE PERFORMANCES FOCUS ON DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES. FREE COMMUNITY EVENTS INCLUDE THE SUMMER FAMILY ARTS AND MUSIC PROGRAMS. PARTNERSHIPS WITH GROUPS SUCH AS SITE CENTERS, MARKETFAIR, BLACKROCK, MINORITY CONCERNS COMMITTEE OF MERCER COUNTY, EDEN AUTISM AND MORE EXTEND REACH TO UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES.
INSTRUCTION IN A VARIETY OF DISCIPLINES INCLUDING VISUAL ARTS, DIGITAL ARTS, THEATER AND VOICE DRAW LEARNERS OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS, FROM YOUTH TO ADULT. AN AVERAGE OF 8 STUDENTS PER CLASS, OF WHICH APPROXIMATELY 40 IN-PERSON ARE OFFERED IN FALL, WINTER AND SPRING OF THE YEAR, WITH A FEW CONDUCTED ONLINE OR HYBRID. A YOUTH PROGRAM CALLED THE CERTIFICATE IN FINE ARTS (CIFA) RECOGNIZES THE ACHIEVEMENTS AND COMMITMENT TO ARTS LEARNING BY YOUTH STUDENTS. A SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ENSURES ACCESS TO OUR ARTS PROGRAMMING FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS IN THE GREATER MERCER COUNTY AREA.
EACH SUMMER AND DURING SCHOOL BREAKS, WWA OFFERS AS MANY AS 24 ARTS CAMPS FOR NEARLY 400 CHILDREN IN A VARIETY OF DISCIPLINES OFFERING OPPORTUNITIES TO LEARN, GROW, AND EXPLORE AS THEY MAKE FRIENDS AND MEMORIES. CAMP REGISTRATIONS AND CONTINUED SAFELY WITH HEALTH MEASURES PUT IN PLACE TO REDUCE THE SPREAD OF COVID CASES. AS PART OF THE CAMP PROGRAM, A TEEN DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE ATTRACTS UP TO 20 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PER YEAR FOR TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATION, LEADERSHIP, AND ADMINISTRATIVE SKILLS.
