UNIVERSITY KIDNEY RESEARCH ORGANIZATION SUPPORTS MEDICAL RESEARCH RELATED TO THE PREVENTION, TREATMENT, AND ERADICATION OF KIDNEY DISEASE. IT AWARDS INNOVATIVE PROJECT GRANTS FOR RENAL RESEARCH PERIODICALLY TO INTERDISCIPLINARY INVESTIGATORS AT THE KECK SCHOOL OF MEDICINE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. SINCE 2012, UKRO HAS FUNDRAISED TO FULFILL ITS FINANCIAL COMMITMENT TO THE JOINT USC/UKRO KIDNEY RESEARCH CENTER AND ITS FULL STAFFING AND OPERATION. IN OCTOBER 2021, THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS VOTED TO UPDATE THE ORGANIZATON'S MISSION TO REFLECT A NEW FUNDRAISING DIRECTION TO SUPPORT THE SYNTHETIC KIDNEY PROJECT AT THE KIDNEY RESEARCH CENTER AND LABS ACROSS USC.

THROUGH ITS WEBSITE AND ONLINE SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE, THE ORGANIZATION RAISES AWARENESS OF KIDNEY DISEASE AND RENAL RESEARCH BEING DONE ALL OVER THE USA AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, SPOTLIGHTING THE WORK OF UNIVERSITY RESEARCHERS ASSOCIATED WITH CURRENT AND PREVIOUS GRANTS AND FELLOWSHIPS.
IN JUNE 2021, UKRO MADE A GIFT OF $25,000 TO THE KECK SCHOOL OF MEDICINE OF USC TO SUPPORT THE STAFFING OF THE USC\UKRO KIDNEY RESEARCH CENTER AND TO ENCOURGE ITS DEVELOPMENT INTO ONE OF THE NATION'S PREMIER CENTERS FOR RENAL RESEARCH. IN 2021, UKRO BEGAN PLANS FOR ITS 2022 BENEFIT DINNER IN SUPPORT OF THE SYNTHETIC KIDNEY PROJECT, UNDERTAKEN BY RESEARCHER AT THE USC\UKRO KIDNEY RESEARCH CENTER AND LABS ACROSS THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
