THE FLYNN CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS FOSTERS THE ENJOYMENT, UNDERSTANDING, AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE PERFORMING ARTS IN VERMONT THROUGH DIVERSE AND ENGAGING ARTISTIC EXPERIENCES. SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE PROGRAMMING OF TWO VENUES AND STUDENT MATINEES PERFORMANCES, THE BURLINGTON DISCOVER JAZZ FESTIVAL, PROVIDING A HOME TO OTHER PERFORMING ARTS ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL AS ARTS EDUCATION BOTH ON-SITE AND IN SCHOOLS.

THE FLYNN CENTER PRESENTS AND HOSTS PERFORMANCES AND STUDENT MATINEES ONLINE, ON THE MAINSTAGE (1,439 SEATS), IN FLYNNSPACE (180 SEATS), TWO STUDIOS, A GALLERY AND VARIOUS OUTDOOR LOCATIONS. ACTIVITIES WERE REDUCED DURING FY21 DUE TO COVID-19.THE BURLINGTON DISCOVER JAZZ FESTIVAL BROUGHT 10 DAYS OF LIVE MUSIC WITH OVER 60 EVENTS 94 HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT, 104 ARTISTS AND OVER 36,000 IN ATTENDANCE. MUSICIANS INCLUDED 174 STUDENTS REPRESENTING 10 SCHOOLS ACROSS VERMONT AND UPSTATE NEW YORK.
FLYNN EDUCATION ACTIVITIES INCLUDE A WIDE RANGE OF CLASSES AND CAMPS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED RATES, AND MANY AT NO COST WITH FULLY-FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS. THE FLYNN ALSO OFFERS SCHOOL & TEACHER WORKSHOPS, AS WELL AS MULTI-DAY ARTIST ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE PRE- AND POST-PERFORMANCE DISCUSSIONS, MASTERCLASSES AND DEMONSTRATIONS.
