HISTORIC HARRISVILLE'S LARGEST PROGRAM IS THE REPAIR OF HISTORIC MILL AND MILL-RELATED BUILDINGS IN THE HARRISVILLE NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK DISTRICT.
THE ORGANIZATION ALSO OWNS AND OPERATES THE HARRISVILLE GENERAL STORE. THE OPERATION OF THE STORE WAS UNDERTAKEN IN 2007 AS AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT EFFORT TO MAINTAIN THE VILLAGE AS A VIABLE PLACE TO LIVE AND WORK. WITHOUT THE STORE, THE VIABILITY OF COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL SPACE IN THE VILLAGE IS MARGINAL AT BEST. THE STORE PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
