EDUCATION - IN 2021, THERE WERE SEVEN LECTURES OVER TWO SEPARATE SERIES - BENJAMIN LINCOLN'S WORLD AND OUT OF THE BOX: STORIES FROM OUR COLLECTIONS - THAT EDUCATED OUR COMMUNITY ON THE COLONIAL WORLD OF HINGHAM'S REVOLUTIONARY WAR HERO AND HIGHLIGHTS FROM OUR COLLECTIONS. FIVE OUT OF THE SEVEN LECTURES WERE HELD REMOTELY AND TWO WERE HELD IN A HYBRID FORMAT. THE TOPICS INCLUDED EDUCATION AND THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN COLONIAL NEW ENGLAND AND HINGHAM AS WELL AS OUR FURNITURE AND NEEDLEWORK COLLECTIONS.
TOUR - IN 2021, WE PARTNERED WITH THE GARDEN CLUB OF HINGHAM TO BRING BACK OUR HISTORIC HOUSE TOUR AFTER WE HAD TO SHUT IT DOWN FOR COVID-19 IN 2020. SINCE WE COULD NOT ASK PRIVATE HOMEOWNERS TO OPEN THEIR HOMES FOR TOURING AS WE CONTINUED TO STRUGGLE WITH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, WE OPTED TO DECORATE OUR OWN PROPERTIES FOR THE HOLIDAYS WHICH WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY PARTNERING WITH THE GARDEN CLUB. AFTER COVERING COSTS, WE SPLIT THE PROCEEDS WHICH WERE A FRACTION OF PAST TOUR RECEIPTS.
EXHIBITS AT THE HINGHAM HISTORICAL SOCIETY FEATURE ROTATING PRESENTATIONS OF COLLECTIONS MATERIAL - EITHER OUR OWN OR ON LOAN - FOR THE PUBLIC TO ENJOY BY ADMISSION OR INVITATION. EXHIBITS, FOR THE MOST PART, ARE HOSTED AT THE HINGHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM. JANUARY - SEPTEMBER 2021, WE HOSTED PICTURING HINGHAM: THE ART OF LOUIS AND BEATRICE BAXTER RUYL AND IN NOVEMBER 2021, LAUNCHED POLLY THAYER STARR: NEARER THE ESSENCE.
