THE HAWAII HEALTH FOUNDATION CONDUCTS 10-DAY WELLNESS (HEALTH/DIET) PROGRAMS. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS RECEIVED: MEDICAL ASSESSMENT/PHYSICAL EXAM, LABS, MEDICAL MONITORING, INDIVIDUAL CONSULTATION WITH DR. SHINTANI AND OTHER SERVICES. DR. SHINTANI WAS ON-CALL FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS 24 HOURS A DAY, EVERY DAY OF THE PROGRAM. PARTICIPANTS ALSO RECEIVED: MEALS, CLASSES, COOKING CLASSES, PROGRAM WORKBOOK, TEXTBOOKS, PEDOMETERS, ETC. ONE OF THE GOALS OF THE PROGRAM: TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF THE PARTICIPANTS AND TO GIVE THEM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH AND LIVE HEALTHIER FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES AFTER THE PROGRAM ENDS.
