SHELTER OPERATIONS - THE PROGRAM PROVIDES EMERGENCY AND TRANSITIONAL SHELTER TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES ON MAUI. HALE MAKANA PROVIDES PERMANENT AFFORDABLE HOUSING TO RESIDENTS IN THE COMMUNITY.EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2015, KHAKO ACQUIRED HALE MAKANA O'WAIALE RENTAL PROJECT, WHICH IS A 200-UNIT MULTIFAMILY APARTMENT COMPLEX LOCATED IN WAILUKU, HAWAII, INTENDED FOR RENTAL TO INDIVIDUALS OR FAMILIES WITH INCOME BELOW 50% OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI'S MEDIAN GROSS INCOME LEVELS.


HOUSING FOCUSED EDUCATION, PROGRAMS, AND SOCIAL SERVICES - THE PROGRAM PROVIDED A SERIES OF LIFE-SKILL CLASSES DESIGNED TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF HOMELESSNESS: CLASSES INCLUDE BUDGETING, DWELLING UNIT CLEANLINESS AND UPKEEP, AND CHILDREN SERVICES (TO INCREASE SELF-ESTEEM, COMMUNITY BUILDING AND EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS).
