LANAKILA PACIFIC'S MISSION IS TO BUILD INDEPENDENCE AND AN IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH COGNITIVE, PHYSICAL, SOCIAL, OR AGE RELATED CHALLENGES.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

WORKFORCE RESOURCES OFFERS TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES AND EMPLOYMENT AT A NETWORK OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL WORKSITES TO DEVELOP THE SKILLS, BEHAVIORS, AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO SUCCESSFULLY SEEK, OBTAIN, AND MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY. PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE SPECIALIZED TRAINING AND HANDS-ON WORK EXPERIENCE IN AREAS OF CUSTODIAL SERVICE, GROUNDS MAINTENANCE, SILK SCREENING AND EMBROIDERY, FOOD SERVICE, AND MORE. IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, 76% OF LANAKILA PACIFIC'S DIRECT LABOR HOURS WERE PERFORMED BY EMPLOYEES WITH A DOCUMENTED DISABILITY.


NUTRITION SERVICES IS THE COMBINATION OF LANAKILA KITCHEN AND LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS. LANAKILA KITCHEN PROVIDES TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN THE PREPARATION OF MEALS FOR LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS, SCHOOLS, AND OTHER GROUPS IN THE COMMUNITY AS WELL AS GOODS AND SERVICES TO SUPPORT A RETAIL OPERATION. THE GOAL OF LANAKILA KITCHEN, AS A WORKFORCE PROGRAM, IS TO DEVELOP THE SKILLS, BEHAVIORS, AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO SUCCESSFULLY SEEK, OBTAIN, AND MAINTAIN EMPLOYMENT IN THE COMMUNITY. LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS IS HAWAII'S LARGEST AND ONLY ISLAND-WIDE MEAL PROVIDER FOR SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS PROVIDED OVER 329,000 NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED MEALS THROUGH ITS HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES. THE GOAL OF LANAKILA MEALS ON WHEELS IS TO ALLOW SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES TO AGE IN PLACE WITH DIGNITY BY PREVENTING HUNGER AND SOCIAL ISOLATION WHICH OFTEN LEADS TO INSTITUTIONALIZATION.


DISABILITY SERVICES INCLUDES TEACHING & LEARNING CENTERS (TLC) AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES. TLC PROVIDES PERSONALIZED SERVICES THAT PROMOTE SELF-ADVOCACY AND INCLUSION IN THE COMMUNITY FOR PEOPLE WITH COGNITIVE, SOCIAL, OR PHYSICAL DISABILITIES. THE PROGRAM OFFERS A VARIETY OF CLASSES FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING KEY SOCIAL AND LIFE SKILLS TO FOSTER INDEPENDENCE, SUCH AS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, HOME MANAGEMENT, COMMUNITY EXPLORATION, RECREATION AND LEISURE, AND PREVOCATIONAL READINESS. EMPLOYMENT SERVICES HELPS ASPIRING INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES GAIN AND/OR IMPROVE SOFT AND HARD SKILLS THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO EXPAND THEIR PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE AND IMPROVE THEIR ABILITY TO SECURE AND RETAIN EMPLOYMENT OVER TIME. IN FISCAL YEAR 2023, TLC SERVED 75 PARTICIPANTS WHILE 186 TRAINEES RECEIVED JOB-READINESS TRAINING THROUGH EMPLOYMENT SERVICES VIA IN-PERSON AND/OR TELEHEALTH SERVICES.
