TRANSITIONING HORSES FOR A SUCCESSFUL LIFE ("CALYPSO HEAD START PROGRAM")THE CALYPSO HEAD START PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO GIVE EACH HORSE WE WORK WITH THE VERY BEST CHANCE FOR A SUCCESSFUL SECONDARY CAREER. EACH HORSE IN OUR PROGRAM RECEIVES THE FOLLOWING:-FULL BOARD WITH TURNOUT, BLANKETING, GROOMING, COMPLETE NUTRITION AND SUPPLEMENTED FEED, FULL DAILY CARE AND TRAINING AT A TOP EQUESTRIAN FACILITY.-PROFESSIONAL TRAINING ON THE GROUND AND UNDER SADDLE-EXPERT VETERINARY SERVICES, EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE, ONGOING FARRIER WORK, ORAL EXAMS/ TEETH MAINTENANCE, EXTENSIVE GROOMING.-CONTROLLED AND SAFE EXPOSURE TO SHOW GROUND ACTIVITY, BALLOONS, DOGS, OTHER HORSES, CARS/ TRAFFIC, TRAIL RIDING, ARENA RIDING, JUMPS, WATER, BATHING, CLIPPING, TRAILER LOADING ETC.-HONEST INSIGHT INTO THE TEMPERAMENT, TRAINING AND FUTURE POTENTIAL OF THE HORSE AS A COMPETITIVE MOUNT OR FAMILY HORSE.-POTENTIAL FOR TRANSITION INTO THE SECONDARY CAREERS THAT OUR GROUP OF TRUSTED PROFESSIONALS (VETERINARIANS, TRAINERS, FARRIER ETC) DEEMS THE HORSE TO BE FIT FOR.-IDEALLY THESE HORSES ARE SHOWN LOCALLY TO INCREASE AWARENESS ABOUT WHAT SECOND CHANCE HORSES CAN DO WITH THE PROPER TLC THEY NEED!A HUGE PART OF OUR MISSION'S SUCCESS IS DUE TO THE DIFFERENT APPROACH OF GIVING SECOND-CHANCE HORSES FULLY FUNDED SUPPORT TO SHOW OFF WHAT THEY CAN DO. WITHOUT OUR SUPPORT, THESE HORSES WOULD GO UNSEEN AND THEREFORE WE ENABLE THE PROGRESSION OF A MORE COMPASSIONATE APPROACH AND A WILLINGNESS TO TRANSITION HORSES TO A SECOND CAREER THAT IS DESPERATELY NEEDED IN THE EQUESTRIAN INDUSTRY.
THE CREATE MORE KINDNESS" PROGRAMTHIS PROGRAM ENCOMPASSES ALL OF THE WORK WE DO OUTSIDE OF CARING AND TRAINING FOR THE SECOND-CHANCE HORSES DIRECTLY IN OUR CARE. THIS IS THE WORK WE DO TO SUPPORT AND EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY ABOUT COMPASSIONATE RESPONSIBLE HORSE CARE AND TO ENABLE POSITIVE CHANGES FOR HORSE WELFARE IN THE EQUESTRIAN INDUSTRY.-OUR PONY-DAYS PROGRAM RESUMED IN 2021, AND BAKER THE WONDER PONY WAS ABLE TO TEACH STUDENTS ABOUT COMPASSIONATE HORSE CARE & EMPATHY. THIS WAS A HAPPY DEVELOPMENT IN GETTING BACK TO NORMAL AFTER THE PANDEMIC!-OUR CREATE MORE KINDNESS' SLOGAN IS GOING STRONG ON THE CALIFORNIA SHOW CIRCUIT AND WE HAVE MULTIPLE EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE WORKS FOR NEXT YEAR.-PARTICIPATION, SPONSORSHIP AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AT WOODSIDE, SONOMA & THE MENLO CHARITY HORSE SHOW.-TINY & PANCHO CONTINUE REHABILITATION- RIDERS ARE ABLE TO SIGN-UP & PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CARE, INCLUDING EDUCATIONAL CLINICS WITH THE VETERINARIANS AND TRAINERS WHO WORK WITH THE CALYPSO HORSES.WE LOOK FORWARD TO CONTINUING OUR PROGRAMS AND FINDING MORE INNOVATIVE WAYS TO CREATE MORE KINDNESS AND AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF COMPASSIONATE CARE FOR HORSES.
