SEMINARS, WEBINARS, AND CONVENTION/ANNUAL MEETINGPROVIDED EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO MEMBERS, OTHER HEALTH INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS, AND PROFESSIONALS INTERESTED IN HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT PRACTICES. EDUCATION WAS PROVIDED THROUGH WEBINARS AND PIVOTED VIRTUAL PROGRAMS (FORMERLY SEMINARS). THIS YEAR'S CONVENTION WAS THE FIRST IN-PERSON EVENT POST-PANDEMIC, SO MORE EXPENSE WAS INCURRED DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE EVENT. TOPICS INCLUDED ISSUES RELATED TO PRIVACY AND SECURITY OF HEALTH INFORMATION, MEDICAL CODING AND COMPLIANCE, HIPAA REGULATIONS, AND OTHER HEALTH INFORMATION RELATED TOPICS. ATTENDANCE WAS SOLID FOR THE FIRST IN-PERSON MEETING IN OVER TWO YEARS. WEBINAR AND OTHER ONLINE EDUCATION ATTENDANCE NUMBERS ARE NOT AS HIGH THIS YEAR DUE TO THE SATURATED ONLINE EDUCATION MARKET. SO MUCH IS OUT THERE FOR FREE NOW.
DUES AND ASSESSMENTSTHE ASSOCIATION COLLECTS ANNUAL DUES FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES AND BENEFITS DESIRED BY AHIMA MEMBERS IN CA. DUES ARE PAID BASED ON AN ANNIVERSARY BASIS. RENEWALS CONTINUE TO DROP FOR SEVERAL REASONS. ON AVERAGE, JUST OVER 1,100 INDIVIDUALS AND 5 CORPORATE PARTNERS SUPPORTED CHIA THIS YEAR. THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION (AHIMA) ALSO PROVIDED A PERCENTAGE OF NATIONAL DUES PAID, FOR CLOSE TO 5,600 MEMBERS WHICH IS ALSO DECREASED FROM OVER 7,000 IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR.
MERCHANDISECHIA OFFERS SEVERAL EDUCATIONAL PRODUCTS, INCLUDING PUBLICATIONS, EBOOKS, AND WEBINARS ON-DEMAND (WOD) FOR SALE. EBOOKS AND WODS ARE ACCESSIBLE ONLINE VIA THE CUSTOMER PROFILE. ALL MERCHANDISE IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE VIA THE CHIA WEBSITE.
