Describe the Organization's Mission:

Part 3 - Line 1

IT IS OUR MISSION TO TRANSFORM LOS ANGELES INTO A COUNTY THAT REFLECTS THE HUMAN DIGNITY OF ALL COMMUNITIES, ESPECIALLY THOSE IN GREATEST NEED.

Describe the Organization's Program Activity:

Part 3 - Line 4a

HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS: LA VOICE ALIGNED OUR EFFORTS TO ADVANCE THE THREE PS OF HOUSING: PRODUCTION, PROTECTION, AND PRESERVATION. WE SOUGHT TO ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING GOALS: 1) MEASURES TO PREVENT EVICTION AND FORECLOSURE, SUPPORT THE UNHOUSED, AND DEVELOP AFFORDABLE HOUSING MEASURES THAT ARE PASSED, REFLECTING THE PRIORITIES OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY RESIDENTS; 2) WIN PERMANENT POLICIES THAT PROTECT AND EMPOWER RENTERS AND SECURE LONG-TERM HOUSING SOLUTIONS FOR THE PREVIOUSLY UNHOUSED; AND 3) HELP CONGREGATIONS IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY MAKE CONCRETE CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOLVING LOS ANGELES' AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS CRISES WHILE INCREASING FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY FOR THEIR INSTITUTIONS AND CREATING A SCALABLE-EXPORTABLE MODEL. THROUGH OUR FAITH IN HOUSING PROGRAM, LA VOICE HAS BEEN INFLUENTIAL IN CREATING MOMENTUM FOR BUILDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING ON FAITH-OWNED LAND, FOCUSING ON LOCATING SITES FOR POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSING THEIR FEASIBILITY. WE ALSO CREATED SITE PLANS AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS FOR PROTOTYPES THAT CAN HAVE MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS TO REDUCE OVERALL COSTS.

MOVEMENT BUILDING: IN AN EFFORT TO BUILD POWER AMONG COMMUNITIES OF FAITH, WE BEGAN THE POWER CAMPAIGN THROUGH WHICH COMMUNITY LEADERS HONED THEIR SKILLS, ENGAGED IN STRATEGIC LISTENING, AND DEVELOPED A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR COMMUNITY'S EXPERIENCE. IT WAS THROUGH THE SACRED LISTENING THAT WE DETERMINED THE ISSUES THAT MATTER MOST TO OUR CONGREGATIONS. LA VOICE HELD OVER 2,000 CONVERSATIONS ACROSS 30 CONGREGATIONS. AT THE RALLY FOR THE DIGNITY OF ALL, OVER 400 COMMUNITY LEADERS FROM 40 CONGREGATIONS CALLED ON LOCAL AND STATE ELECTED OFFICIALS TO PRIORITIZE OUR AGENDA FOR HOUSING AND INCOME STABILITY. THIS ACTION LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR POLICIES THAT WILL PROTECT TENANTS, PRESERVE HOUSING AND INCREASE INCOME STABILITY.

CIVIC AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT: THROUGH A RANGE OF NONPARTISAN CIVIC AND VOTER ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS, WE UNITED CONGREGATIONS AND THEIR MEMBERS IN THE CITY OF LOS ANGELES, LA COUNTY, AND PASADENA. AS PART OF OUR POWER CAMPAIGN, OUR CONGREGATIONS LED RESEARCH ACTIONS, SPEAKING WITH POLITICAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHY THINGS ARE THE WAY THEY ARE AND HOW WE CAN CHANGE THEM. EQUIPPED WITH AN ANALYSIS AND UNDERSTANDING, OUR LEADERS EDUCATED THE COMMUNITY AROUND HOUSING POLICIES, SHERIFF ACCOUNTABILITY, AND WHAT'S ON THE BALLOT IN 2022.
