THE ZONTA CLUB OF THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY FOUNDATION (ZCSCVF) HELD SEVERAL COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS AND AWARDED MULTIPLE GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS DURING ITS FISCAL YEAR ENDED MAY 31, 2022. THESE WERE: LIFE FORWARD WORKSHOPS - FOURTEEN (14) VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS WERE HELD TO ASSIST WOMEN AND MEN WITH THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO FOSTER ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY. EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS COVERED TOPICS SUCH AS STRATEGIES FOR HEALTHY LIVING DURING THE PANDEMIC, ESTABLISHING FINANCIAL GOALS, DEVELOPMENT OF BETTER COMMUNICATION SKILLS, TAX PLANNING, WAYS TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH, TECHNIQUES FOR REDUCING STRESS, AND HOW TO ACHIEVE WORK/LIFE BALANCE. ZONTA SAYS NO TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN - TO ADVOCATE AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND BRING AWARENESS TO THE COMMUNITY REGARDING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, RED DRESSES REPRESENTING PERSONS KILLED AS A RESULT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WERE DISPLAYED IN VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY. ZONTA MEMBERS STAFFED THE LOCATIONS TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND HAND OUT RESOURCE INFORMATION CARDS. WOMEN IN FILM PRESENT LUNAFEST - THIS IS A NEW PROJECT STARTED TO IMPROVE THE EDUCATIONAL AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY FOR WOMEN IN THE SANTA CLARITA VALLEY. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDED TWO EVENTS; THE SCREENING OF THE 2021 LUNAFEST, SEVEN SHORT FILMS BY AWARD-WINNING WOMEN FILM MAKERS, BY AND ABOUT WOMEN. THIS WAS FOLLOWED THE NEXT DAY BY A CONFERENCE AT COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS UNIVERSITY CENTER FEATURING INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS DESIGNED TO HELP LOCAL WOMEN GET IN AND GET AHEAD IN THE LOCAL FILM RELATED INDUSTRIES.SCHOLARSHIPS - THE FOLLOWING EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED:YOUNG WOMEN IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS - SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO WOMEN WHO ARE STUDYING FOR A CAREER INVOLVING PUBLIC POLICY, GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION, AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS. THERE WERE THREE (3) SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED FOR A TOTAL OF $3,000.00. ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION - AN $11,000.00 DONATION WAS GIVEN TO ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR A SCHOLARSHIP WHICH IS AWARDED TO A WOMAN PURSUING A DOCTORAL DEGREE IN AEROSPACE.ZCSCVF ALSO AWARDED FIVE (5) GRANTS TO LOCAL NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT PRODUCED A PROGRAM THAT FURTHERED OUR MISSION OF IMPROVING LIVES OF WOMEN AND GIRLS. THE GRANTS AWARDED TOTALED $5,550.00.
