SPEAK UP RESEARCH PROJECT: FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR PERIOD, OVER 50,000 K-12 STUDENTS, TEACHERS, PARENTS, AND ADMINISTRATORS REPRESENTING SCHOOLS IN ALL 50 STATES PARTICIPATED IN THE ANNUAL SPEAK UP PROJECT BY SUBMITTING AN ONLINE SURVEY ABOUT THEIR USE OF TECHNOLOGY WITHIN LEARNING, AND THEIR ASPIRATIONS FOR IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. THE SPEAK UP DATA AND REPORTS ARE USED ANNUALLY TO INFORM NATIONAL, STATE AND LOCAL POLICIES, PROGRAMS, FUNDING AND PLANS FOR K-12 EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND MATH INSTRUCTION AND TECHNOLOGY USE. ANNUALLY, THE SPEAK UP DATA IS PRESENTED AT OVER 60 EDUCATION AND BUSINESS CONFERENCES AND OVER 2,500 COPIES OF OUR REPORTS WERE DOWNLOADED FROM OUR WEBSITE AND THE WEBSITES OF OUR PARTNERS. PARTICIPATION IN THE SPEAK UP PROJECT IS AVAILABLE TO EVERY SCHOOL AND DISTRICT IN THE UNITED STATES AND EACH PARTICIPATING SCHOOL OR DISTRICT RECEIVES FREE ACCESS TO THE AGGREGATED RESULTS FROM THEIR OWN PARTICIPANTS. ACCESS TO THE NATIONAL FINDINGS AND REPORTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC USE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE, WWW.TOMORROW.ORG.


BUILDING ELEMENTARY TEACHER READINESS AND CAPACITY FOR COMPUTATIONAL THINKING NEW YORK CITY PROJECT: WITH THIS PROJECT, WE ARE PROVIDING 90 ELEMENTARY TEACHERS IN TEN UNDERSERVED NEW YORK CITY SCHOOLS WITH PROFESSIONAL LEARNING AND COACHING TO INTEGRATE COMPUTATIONAL THINKING WITHIN THEIR EVERYDAY CURRICULUM. THIS IS A TWO-YEAR GRANT FUNDED PROJECT. AS PART OF THIS PROJECT, WE ARE DOING NEW RESEARCH ON HOW TO BUILD UP TEACHERS' COMPETENCIES, COMFORT AND CONFIDENCE WITH COMPUTATIONAL THINKING CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES. NUMEROUS ASSETS AND TOOLS ARE BEING DEVELOPED FROM THIS PROJECT THAT WILL HELP US REPLICATE THIS PROJECT IN OTHER LOCATIONS IN THE FUTURE.
