THE TRAINING, DEVELOPMENT, EVALUATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AGE APPROPRIATE CURRICULA FOR DELIVERY BY D.A.R.E INSTRUCTORS TO ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AS WELL AS TO PARENTS. D.A.R.E. IS THE LARGEST AND MOST COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR K-12 STUDENTS. THESE SPECIALIZED CURRICULA ARE DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE USE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS, THE ABUSE OF PRESCRIPTION AND OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICINES, BULLYING, AND OTHER DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOURS IN ORDER THAT THE STUDENTS CAN LEAD PRODUCTIVE, SAFE, AND HEALTHY LIVES.
D.A.R.E AMERICA PROVIDES EDUCATION AND NECESSARY INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS, FREE OF CHARGE, TO OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS WHO DELIVER THE PROGRAM TO MILLIONS OF SCHOOL CHILDREN THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES.
D.A.R.E PROGRAMS REACHED MILLIONS OF STUDENTS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD AND WAS DELIVERED TO THOUSANDS OF SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT EACH OF THE NATION'S 50 STATES. OVERALL USE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS HAS DECLINED IN THE UNITED STATES BY NEARLY 50% SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE D.A.R.E PROGRAM IN 1983. SINCE 1997, OVERALL ILLEGAL DRUG USE AMONGST TEENAGERS HAS BEEN SIGINIFICANTLY REDUCED D.A.R.E HAS BEEN CREDITED WITH HAVING PLAYED A VITAL ROLE IN BOTH OF THESE MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
