THE PROJECT CITIZEN RESEARCH PROGRAM, A RESEARCH GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, HAS GIVEN THE CENTER FOR CIVIC EDUCATION AND ITS PARTNERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO OFFER FREE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS NEW TO THE PROJECT CITIZEN CURRICULUM.
LIST OF OTHER PROGRAMS:THE CENTER DISSEMINATES CURRICULAR MATERIALS FOR PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS AT THE ELEMENTARY, SECONDARY, AND POST-SECONDARY LEVELS, CONDUCTS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS AND PROVIDES ONLINE RESOURCES TO ENHANCE STUDENTS LEARNING.
WE THE PEOPLE: THE CITIZEN AND CONSTITUTION IS A NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED CIVIC EDUCATION PROGRAM FOCUSING ON THE HISTORY AND PRINCIPLES OF THE U.S CONSTITUTION AND BILL OF RIGHTS FOR UPPER ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE PROGRAM IS ADMINISTERED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OFA NATIONAL NETWORK OF COORDINATORS IN STATES AND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS ACROSS THE NATION. PROJECT CITIZEN IS A CURRICULAR PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS THAT PROMOTES COMPETENT AND RESPONSIBLE PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT. IT HELPS YOUNG PEOPLE LEARN HOW TO MONITOR AND INFLUENCE PUBLIC POLICY. IN THE PROCESS, THEY DEVELOPSUPPORT FOR DEMOCRATIC VALUES AND PRINCIPLES, TOLERANCE, AND FEELINGS OF POLITICAL EFFICACY.
