EES OFFERS FULL DAY AND PART DAY PRESCHOOL FOR CHILDREN OF LOW-INCOME WORKING FAMILIES. THESE SERVICES HELP YOUNG CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES BY OFFERING HIGH QUALITY PRESCHOOL SO CHILDREN ARE WELL-PREPARED FOR KINDERGARTEN AND PARENTS CAN WORK OR FINISH THEIR EDUCATION. 1,174 STUDENTS AGES 3 TO 5 YEARS OLD ARE SERVED IN THIS PROGRAM FUNDED THROUGH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, CALIFORNIA STATE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM.

EES HAS A CONTRACT WITH SAN DIEGO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION, QUALITY PRESCHOOL INITIATIVE (QPI) FUNDED BY FIRST 5 SAN DIEGO TO PROVIDE HIGH-QUALITY PRESCHOOL OPPORTUNITIES. THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THE QUALITY PRESCHOOL INITIATIVE IS TO REDUCE THE SCHOOL READINESS GAP AND IMPROVE SCHOOL ACHEIVEMENT IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY BY PROVIDING CHILDREN WITH THE KIND OF EARLY EDUCATION EXPERIENCES THEY NEED TO DO WELL IN SCHOOL AND BEYOND. QPI HAS INSTITUTED A 5 TIER PRESCHOOL QUALITY RATING AND IMPROVEMENT SYSTEM. ALL EES LOCATIONS SCORE A 4 OR 5 RATING THROUGH THE QPI SYSTEM.
