FOOD NOW STRIVES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR RESIDENTS OF THE WESTERN COACHELLA VALLEY BY PROVIDING FOOD ASSISTANCE, COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND SUPPORT SERVICES WHICH STRENGTHEN FAMILIES AND BUILD HEALTHY COMMUNITIES.

FOR FY 2021/2022 THE AGENCY ACCOMPLISHED THE FOLLOWING: FOOD ASSISTANCE; AGENCY PROVIDED WEEKLY SUPLEMENTAL FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS FOR 1,684 UNDUPLICATED LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS LIVING IN THE WESTERN COACHELLA VALLEY, INCLUDING 3,992 INDIVIDUALS, (1,894 ADULTS, 1,008 SENIORS, AND 1,090 CHILDREN). FOR FY 2021/2022 THE AGENCY DISTRIBUTED APPROXIMATELY 807,788 POUNDS OF FOOD, ENOUGH FOOD FOR APPROXIMATELY 1,000,000 MEALS. HOMELESS NEEDS PROGRAM: 587 UNDUPLICATED CLIENTS REPORTED THEY HAD NO PERMANENT PLACE OF RESIDENCE. THE AGENCY PROVIDED 15,000 MEALS FOR CLIENTS WHO ARE UNSHELTERED. HOME DELIVERIES: APPROXIMATELY 100 HOUSEHOLDS EVERY WEEK (APPRXIMATELY 1/3 OF THE FOOD DISTRIBUTED) IS HOME DELIVERED. CHILDRENS BACKPACK WEEKEND MEAL PROGRAM. FOOD NOW HAS AN MOU WITH PALM SPRINGS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TO PROVIDE CHRONICXALLY HUNGRY CHILDREN WITH ADDITION MEALS FOR THE STUDENTS TO TAKE HOME ON WEEKENDS.COMPANION PET FOOD DISTRIBUTION. FOOD NOW PROVIDES WEEKLY DISTRIBUTIONS OF PET FOOD WHEN AVAILABLE. FOOD NOW DISTRIBUTED APPROXIMATELY 30,000 POUNDS OF CAT AND DOG FOOD DURING THE FY.
