Describe the Organization's Program Activity:
Part 3
OVER THE LAST THREE DECADES, THE DETOXIFICATION PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY L.RON HUBBARD HAS BEEN EMPLOYED TO HELP THOUSANDS OF INDIVIDUALS FIND RELIEF FROM THE SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH OCCUPATIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMICAL EXPOSURES. THE DETOXIFICATION REGIMEN INVOLVES A PRECISE, NON-INVASIVE REGIMEN OF EXERCISE, SAUNA BATHING, AND VITAMIN AND MINERAL SUPPLEMENTS. IT IS DESIGNED TO GRADUALLY INCREASE THE RATES AT WHICH THE BODY CAN BOTH MOBILIZE AND EXCRETE ACCUMULATED RESIDUES OF CHEMICALS AND DRUGS. SINCE THE EARLY 1980S, FINDINGS FROM STUDIES, EVALUATIONS AND PILOT PROJECTS INVOLVING THE PROGRAM HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED IN PROFESSIONAL PUBLICATIONS AND PEER-REVIEWED JOURNALS, AND PRESENTED AT SCIENTFIC MEETINGS AND CONFERENCES. THIS WORK HAS FIRMLY ESTABLISHED ITS SAFETY AND ITS VALUE IN REDUCING SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH CHEMICAL EXPOSURE. THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES THAT THE ACADEMY HAS ORGANIZED- IN LOS ANGELES, STOCKHOLM, AND NEW YORK-HAVE ENABLED PRACTITIONERS AND RESEARCHERS FROM THE U.S., EUROPE, ASIA, AND RUSSIA TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES WITH THIS UNIQUE REHABILITATIVE THERAPY. IN RECOGNITION OF THE INCREASED EXPOSURE RISKS THAT FIRST RESPONDERS FACE- WHETHER AT INNER-CITY FIRES, ON THE BATTLEFIELD, OR THE SITES OF CHEMICAL ACCIDENTS- THE ACADEMY ESTABLISHED THE HEROES HEALTH FUND (HHF) TO SUPPORT HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS THAT DELIVER DETOXIFICATION SERVICES TO UNINFORMED SERVICES PERSONNEL EXPOSED TO TOXIC MATERIALS IN THE LINE OF DUTY. PROJECTS SUPPORTED THE HHF IN 2016 INCLUDE: -EDUCATION AND OUTREACH SERVICES PROVIDED TO INSTITUTIONS AND INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED THE POTENTIAL USE OF DETOXIFICATION TO ADDRESS THE CONSEQUENCES OF TOXIC EXPOSURE IN THE LINE OF DUTY. -COLLECTION OF DATA REGARDING THE PRE- AND POST-PROGRAM HEALTH STATUS OF PARTICIPANTS THROUGH A ROUTINE OUTCOME MONITORING (ROM) SYSTEM. ACADEMY ADVISORS PROVIDED ASSISTANCE IN ORGANIZING THE SYSTEM AND ITS IMPLEMENTATION. -CONTINUED SUPPORT OF A FACILITY IN MARYLAND THAT PROVIDES DETOXIFICATION SERVICES ON A HUMANITARIAN BASIS, AT NO COST, TO VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: ON A ROUTINE BASIS, THE ACADEMY ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION TO HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONIALS INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT DETOXIFICATION RESEARCH PROJECTS AND PILOT PROGRAMS, AND TO THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ESTABLISHING FACILITIES THAT PROVIDE THE HUBBARD PROGRAM.
