OVER ONE MILLION VISITORS FROM THROUGHOUT THE WORLD HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAUSALITO ART FESTIVAL SINCE ITS INAUGURAL EVENT IN 1952. SAUSALITO HOSTS THE WEST COAST'S ULTIMATE ART EXPERIENCE, FEATURING A WORLD-CLASS COLLECTION OF FINE ART AND CRAFT.THE INTERNATIONALLY FAMOUS BEAUTY OF SAUSALITO, WITH ITS HISTORIC WATERFRONT AND UNIQUE ART GALLERIES AND SHOPS, HAS LONG ATTRACTED ART COLLECTORS. ARTIST TEACHING ART (ATA) IS AN ARTS EDUCATION PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE SAUSALITO ART FESTIVAL FOUNDATION (SAFF) TO SERVE STUDENTS K-12 IN BOTH PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT MARIN COUNTY. AS CALIFORNIA SCHOOLS TRANSITION TO THE COMMON CORE STANDARDS, ATA ALONG WITH PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS, TEACHERS AND PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS COLLABORATE TO CREATE A VARIETY OF ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROJECTS DESIGNED TO INSPIRE CHILDREN TO THINK DIFFERENTLY ABOUT ART. THE ART PROJECT CURRICULUM IS TIED TO THE COMMON CORE STANDARDS FOR THE VISUAL ARTS IN ALL GRADES AND SUBJECT MATTER.
