THE SAN FRANCISCO INTERFAITH COUNCILS WORK CENTERS ON CIVIL RIGHTS, HOMELESSNESS, HOUSING AFFORDABILITY, AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS. THE SFIC CONVENES AND AMPLIFIES THE VOICE OF OUR CITYS FAITH-BASED COMMUNITY ON THESE IMPORTANT ISSUES.

THE INTERFAITH WINTER SHELTER FOR THE HOMELESS PROVIDES A HOT, NUTRITIOUS DINNER, BREAKFAST AND A SAFE, WARM OVERNIGHT REST FOR SOME 100 HOMELESS GUESTS EVERY NIGHT FROM THE MONDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING THROUGH THE END OF MARCH. THE SFIC COORDINATES FOUR HOST-SITE CONGREGATIONS, 50 MEAL-PROVIDING CONGREGATIONS, AND SHELTER STAFF, WITH INPUT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELESSNESS AND SUPPORTIVE HOUSING.


COVID 19 RESPONSE - SFIC LIAISED WITH CITY OFFICIALS AND AGENCIES AND FAITH COMMUNITIES TO HELP INFORM AND SUPPORT THE PIVOT TO ONLINE WORSHIP AND MINISTRY.MAINTAINED ONLINE RESOURCES AND HOSTED A WEEKLY ONLINE BRIEFINGS FOR COMMUNITY AND FAITH PARTNERS ON COVID 19 ISSUES.


1) CONTRACTED A COMMUNITY LIVING CAMPAIGN "RESERVIST" TO LIAISE WITH THE SF DEPT. OF DISABILITY AND AGING SERVICES AND THE SFIC IN ITS EFFORTS TO PROVIDE OUR CITY'S 800 COMMUNITIES OF FAITH AND RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS WITH ACCESS TO CITY SERVICES TO SUPPORT AGING ADULTS. 2) SUPPLEMENTED AND SUBSIDIZED "RESERVIST'S" FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO AGING ADULTS PARTICIPATING IN THE BAYVIEW MISSION 3) HIGHLIGHTED THE CRITICAL SERVICES FOR AGING ADULTS THROUGH PRESENTATIONS OF THE SFIC'S ONLINE BRIEFINGS FOR COMMUNITY AND INTERFAITH PARTNERS.
