THE DANVILLE GIRLS CHORUS IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION FOR GIRLS IN GRADES 3-8 WITH NO SINGING EXPERIENCE NEEDED. THE DGC OFFERS A COMPLETE PROGRAM OF CHORAL MUSIC EDUCATION THROUGH A VARIETY OF LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)

ALTHOUGH PUBLIC PERFORMANCES ARE AN IMPORTANT AND NECESSARY ELEMENT OF DGC, THEY ARE NOT THE PRIMARY GOAL OF DANVILLE GIRLS CHORUS. THE PREPARATORY AND INTERMEDIATE CHOIRS' CHIEF GOALS ARE FOR SINGERS TO LEARN THE BASICS OF SINGING AND MUSICAL CONCEPTS AND TO BECOME COMFORTABLE WITH BOTH. ALL SINGERS PARTICIPATE IN THREE MAJOR PROGRAMS EACH YEAR: WINTER CONCERT, SPRING CONCERT, AND THE POPS CONCERT. ADDITIONALLY, GIRLS IN THE CONCERT AND HONOR CHOIRS ALSO PERFORM IN CONCERTS WITH OTHER PERFORMING ENSEMBLES, AT FESTIVALS AND FOR A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY AND CIVIC ORGANIZATIONS.THE DGC SEASON RUNS SEPTEMBER THROUGH THE BEGINNING OF JUNE. GIRLS IN CONCERT CHOIR MUST ALSO ATTEND A ONE-WEEK MUSIC CAMP IN AUGUST. EACH SEASON HAS TWO SEMESTERS:
FALL/WINTER (SEPT - DEC) AND SPRING (JAN - JUNE). HOLIDAYS AND BREAKS ARE SCHEDULED TO COINCIDE WITH THE SAN RAMON VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR.DGC OFFERS A COMPLETE PROGRAM OF CHORAL MUSIC EDUCATION THROUGH A VARIETY OF LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES. SINGERS ARE TAUGHT THE BASICS OF VOCAL PRODUCTION AND LEARN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF MUSICIANSHIP AND NOTE-READING. THEY ARE EXPOSED TO A VARIETY OF MUSICAL STYLES RANGING FROM CLASSICAL AND FOLK TUNES TO CONTEMPORARY AND POP MUSIC.PARTICIPATION IN THIS PROGRAM DEVELOPS A SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY, CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM IN THE SINGERS. OUR AIM IS TO INSTILL SENSITIVITY TO BEAUTY, THE ARTS AND MUSICIANSHIP. THE RESULT IS THE ENHANCEMENT OF INDIVIDUAL SKILLS, AND LASTING FRIENDSHIPS AND RELATIONSHIPS AMONG THE GROUP MEMBERS.
