THE MISSION OF ST. STEPHEN HOUSING ASSOCIATION (SSHA) IS TO PROVIDE HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN EXPERIENCING THE CRISIS OF HOMELESSNESS TO ENABLE THEM TO MOVE TOWARD ECONOMIC STABILITY. WE WORK WITH FAMILIES TO HELP THEM FIND WAYS TO INCREASE THEIR INCOME AND REDUCE BARRIERS TO ATTAINING PERMANENT HOUSING, AIMING FOR THEM TO ACHIEVE STABILITY AND THE SKILLS NEEDED TO SUSTAIN THEIR HOUSING IN THE FUTURE. SSHA ALSO ASSISTS HOUSEHOLDS AT RISK OF HOMELESSNESS BY PROVIDING RENTAL ASSISTANCE.

DURING 2023, ST. STEPHEN HOUSING ASSOCIATION'S FAMILY HOUSING PROGRAM (TRANSITIONAL HOUSING) SERVED 143 INDIVIDUALS (33 HOUSEHOLDS) WITH HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICES. ALL 15 EXITING FAMILIES MOVED TO A MORE PERMANENT HOUSING SITUATION, OR TO A HIGHER LEVEL OF HOUSING INTERVENTION. THE HOUSING STABILITY PROGRAM ASSISTED 287 INDIVIDUALS (94 HOUSEHOLDS) WITH RENTAL OR UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO HOUSEHOLDS IN THE COUNTY FACING EVICTION OR UTILITY SHUT OFF. WE DISTRIBUTED OVER $4.6 MILLION IN RENTAL ASSISTANCE TO 741 HOUSEHOLDS IN 2023 THROUGH THE KING COUNTY/UNITED WAY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.
