THE PURPOSE OF THE ORGANIZATION IS TO HELP PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS TO FIND TRUE SOLUTIONS TO THE HOUSING CRISIS AND BEAT BACK MEAN SPIRITED ATTACKS AGAINST THEM

THIS YEAR WE WORKED ALONGSIDE PUBLIC OFFICIALS, ACADEMICS, UNHOUSED PEOPLE AND SERVICE PROVIDERS TO CRAFT AN ALTERNATIVE RESPONSE TO 911 CALLS RELATED TO HOMELESSNESS. THE RESULT WAS A REPORT THAT OUTLINED THE VISION FOR CART - COMPASSIONATE ALTERNATIVE RESPONSE TEAM. THE CONCEPT IS A GOVERNMENT FUNDED COMMUNITY LED PEER BASED TEAM THAT IS EXTENSIVELY TRAINED AND WELL PAID TO RESPOND TO THESE CALLS. THE CAMPAIGN GARNERED $3 MILLION IN FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO RUN THE PROGRAM. IN 2022 THE IMPLEMENTATION WILL START TO TAKE PLACE.
PROP C FUNDS WERE RELEASED TO SUPPORT ACQUISITION OF 1187 UNITS OF ALREADY BUILT HOUSING. THE FUNDING IS MATCHED BY THE STATE THROUGH PROJECT HOMEKEY TO HELP WITH OPERATIONS FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS. SO FAR 5 BUILDINGS WITH 588 UNITS HAVE BEEN PURCHASED. PROP C IS FUNDING 1075 HOUSING SUBSIDIES. OUR JOB NOW IS TO HOLD THE CITY'S FEET TO THE FIRE TO ROLL OUT THESE PROGRAMS.
WE RETURNED TO PRINTING THE STREET SHEET TWICE MONTHLY SUPPORTING THE HUNDREDS OF VENDORS WHO RELY ON THE INCOME THEY EARN FROM SALES AND HIGHLIGHTING THE POLITICAL VISIONS, PERSONAL STORIES AND ARTWORK OF UNHOUSED SAN FRANCISCANS. OUT PODCAST STREET SPEAK HAS GROWN, ANSWERING BURNING QUESTIONS ABOUT POVERTY AND HOMELESSNESS AND HIGHLIGHTING THE TALENTS OF LOCAL MUSICIANS.
