THE REDWOOD CITY EDUCATION FOUNDATION INVESTS IN PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO PROVIDE A WORLD-CLASS PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR EVERY STUDENT IN THE REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT. WE RALLY OUR ENTIRE COMMUNITY TO HELP BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN THE RESOURCES OUR DISTRICT HAS AND THE RESOURCES OUR CHILDREN NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN SCHOOL. WE CONVENE LEADERS ACROSS THE CITY TO SUPPORT OUR COMMON GOAL: A GREAT PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR EVERY CHILD IN OUR COMMUNITY

THE REDWOOD CITY EDUCATION FOUNDATION INVESTS IN PEOPLE AND ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TO PROVIDE A WORLD-CLASS PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR EVERY STUDENT IN THE REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT THROUGH VARIOUS PROGRAMS OF SIMILAR NATURE. THESE PROGRAMS INCLUDE: 1) THE MUSIC FOR LEARNING PROGRAM: RCEF IS THE SOLE PROVIDER OF CLASSROOM MUSIC EDUCATION FOR ALL REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS IN GRADES 2 THROUGH 5 AT 12 SCHOOLS. ABOUT 4,000 STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN THE PROGRAM. RCEF PROVIDES SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FOR INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC FOR RCSD MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. RCEF DIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE RCSD AND THEY SUBCONTRACT TEACHING, MANAGEMENT AND THE PURCHASE OF INSTRUMENTS. THE DISTRICT'S INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PROGRAM BUILDS ON THE TRAINING STUDENTS RECEIVE IN GRADES 2 THROUGH 5, AND PREPARES STUDENTS FOR HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA, BAND, AND OTHER MUSIC STUDIES. THE RCEF IS FUNDING ONE OF THREE TEACHERS PROVIDING INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC INSTRUCTION FOR 6TH THROUGH 8TH GRADERS. 2) ONE THOUSAND REDWOOD CITY FIFTH GRADERS SPEND AN ACTION-FILLED WEEK AT JONES GULCH, NEAR LA HONDA, EXPLORING THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND DEVELOPING SKILLS IN SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, AND LANGUAGE ARTS THROUGH THE OUTDOOR EDUCATION PROGRAM. THE WELLNESS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON PROMOTING PHYSICAL FITNESS. THE PROGRAM ENCOURAGES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY SO THEY MAY DO THEIR BEST AT SCHOOL AND AT HOME. CURRENTLY OUR PARADE RUN AND OKTOBERUN RACES PROVIDE FITNESS OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH TRAINING AND RUNNING FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. 3) SMART GRANTS IS TO BRING INNOVATION INTO THE CLASSROOM IN THE AREAS OF MATH, SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND THE ARTS.
