DUE TO THE GLOBAL COVID-19 PANDEMIC THE AAOP DID NOT HOLD AN IN-PERSON SCIENTIFIC/CONTINUING EDUCATION CONFERENCE DURING 2019-2021. THE AAOP INSTEAD INITIATED A NEW ONLINE LEARNING SUBSCRIPTION THAT PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS TO ACCESS OVER 60 HOURS OF CONTINUING DENTAL ACCREDITATION. THE AAOP IS AN APPROVED DENTAL PROVIDER OF THE ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY (AGD) AND A RECOGNIZED SPECIALTY OF THE AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION (ADA). THE AAOP ALSO CONTINUED TO PLAN FOR AND INCUR EXPENSES FOR FUTURE YEARS' MEETINGS AS PART OF ITS CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM.
THE AAOP PRODUCES 3 PATIENT EDUCATION BROCHURES FOR DISTRIBUTION BY ITS MEMBERS TO PATIENTS WHICH IS ALSO MADE AVAILABLE TO PATIENTS AT NO CHARGE VIA ITS WEBSITE
THE AAOP PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL GRANTS TO WORTHY RESEARCH PROJECTS AND IN SUPPORT OF POSTER PRESENTATIONS AT THE ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING
