HOWEVER DUE TO THE AVIAN FLU EPIDEMIC RESTRICTIONS INTO 2022 OUR EDUCATION PROGRAM WAS REDUCED TO MINIMAL PRESENTATIONS. BUT WE CONTINUED TO REACH THE PUBLIC THROUGH OUR VERY POPULAR FACEBOOK PAGE WHICH EXPANDED TO OVER7,400 FOLLOWERS AND REGULARLY REACH 11,000 PEOPLE ON OUR POSTS. THE INTENTION OF OUR POSTS IS TO EXPAND OUR MEMBERSHIP AND AT THE SAME TIME PROVIDE NATURAL HISTORY EDUCATION. PLANS FOR 2023 ARE TO EXPAND INTO MULTI-MEDIA INTERNET CLASSES AND RESUME LOCAL PRESENTATIONS.
WILDLIFE REHABILITATION - TREATMENT OF 878 WILD BIRDS AND ANIMALS BROUGHT IN FROM SOLANO COUNTY RESIDENTS AND EMERGENCY SERVICES - WITH A 65.8 SURVIVAL RATE IN 2022. THE CENTER HAS BEEN IMPACTED BY THE AVIAN FLU EPIDEMIC AND HAVE HAD TO RESTRICT ACCESS. THE CENTER CONTINUED TO OPERATE BUT WITH REDUCED VOLUNTEERS AND POLICIES FOR SCREENING BIRDS. OVER 19,000 BIRDS AND ANIMALS HAVE BEEN RELEASED BACK TO THE WILD SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THE PROGRAM. THE INCREASED EXPENSES ARE DUE TO THE REBUILDING EFFORT AFTER THE 2020 FIRE. THE LARGE REVENUE CAME IN FROM GENEROUS DONATIONS IN RESPONSE TO THE REBUILDING AND ALSO FOR THE AVIAN FLU CHALLENGES.
