EXHIBITIONS, PUBLIC PROGRAMS, AND CRITIQUE SESSIONSOVER THE COURSE OF 2020-21, SAN FRANCISCO CAMERAWORK HOSTED 50 MISSION-ALIGNED, ONLINE PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS, INCLUDING ARTIST TALKS AND CONVERSATIONS, PANELS, AND STUDIO AND EXHIBITION TOURS. WE ALSO HOSTED 11 MONTHLY CRITIQUE SESSIONS DURING WHICH LEADING PHOTOGRAPHERS REVIEWED THE WORK OF OUR MEMBERS. FORECAST, OUR ANNUAL EMERGING ARTIST SHOW, WAS JURIED BY 3 CULTURAL LEADERS, WHO SELECTED 12 FINALISTS, INCLUDING A $1,000 PRIZE RECIPIENT. THE ANNUAL BENEFIT AUCTION DELIVERED APPROXIMATELY $67,000 IN SALES COMMISSIONS TO WORKING ARTISTS AND REACHED AN INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE OF COLLECTORS. IN ADDITION, WE PRODUCED 6 ONLINE SHOWS THROUGH OUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)MEDIA PLATFORMS THAT FEATURED 34 ARTISTS. ALTHOUGH WE TEMPORARILY CLOSED THE GALLERY DUE TO COVID-19 SAFETY RESTRICTIONS, WE HOSTED ALL PROGRAMMING ONLINE, WHICH SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED THE NUMBER AND VARIETY OF PROGRAMS, PROVIDED GREATER ACCESS TO OUR MEMBERS, AND GREW OUR AUDIENCE REACH SUBSTANTIALLY.IN PUBLIC PROGRAMMING, PANELISTS DELIVERED TALKS AND LECTURES REGARDING THE PHOTOGRAPHIC MEDIUM AND THE POWER OF THE CAMERA AS A MEANS FOR COMMENTING ON THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD. STUDIO VISITS AND COLLECTOR CONVERSATIONS PROVIDED EXPOSURE FOR ARTISTS AND ENHANCED COLLECTOR ENGAGEMENT WITH CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTISTS AND PRACTICE. THE ANNUAL BENEFIT AUCTION OUR SIGNATURE FUNDRAISING EVENT SPOTLIGHTED THE SEMINAL PERSPECTIVES OF EMERGING AND TRADITIONALLY UNDERREPRESENTED ARTISTS. IN MONTHLY CRITIQUE SEMINARS, LEADING PHOTOGRAPHERS IN THE FIELD OFFERED PERSONALIZED GUIDANCE AND FEEDBACK TO MEMBERS WHO HAD SUBMITTED WORK IN ADVANCE.ALMOST ALL OF OUR ONLINE PUBLIC PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN RECORDED AND MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC VIA OUR WEBSITE, FREE OF CHARGE.
WORKSHOPS AND CLASSESSAN FRANCISCO CAMERAWORK HOSTED 2 ADVANCED CRITIQUE WORKSHOP SERIES, 2 WORKSHOP SERIES EXPLORING CONTEMPORARY TECHNIQUES AND ALTERNATIVE PROCESSES, AND 4 ARTIST TOOLKIT PROGRAMS. THE ADVANCED CRITIQUE WORKSHOPS ARE DESIGNED TO ALLOW PRACTICING PHOTOGRAPHERS TO DEVELOP AND STRENGTHEN THEIR PHOTOGRAPHIC WORK, BOTH CONCEPT AND TECHNIQUE, UNDER THE INSTRUCTION OF LEADING PHOTOGRAPHERS. THE SESSIONS PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE CONTEMPORARY ART ISSUES AND PRACTICES AS WELL AS TO RECEIVE DIRECTED FEEDBACK THROUGH DISCUSSION. THE ALTERNATIVE AND CONTEMPORARY PROCESS WORKSHOPS ALLOW PARTICIPANTS TO EXPERIENCE THE DIVERSE RANGE AND TECHNIQUES OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC MEDIUM.
